Washable Merino Wool Turtleneck

I have purchased two of these sweaters. I am a size 12 older woman and I live in a cold climate. These sweaters are wonderful. I love the roomy fit around the middle. The medium was a perfect fit for my size 12 body.

First, all-merino T-necks, sweaters, etc are highly valued since merino wool is the best there is for everything. So these are great off the bat. They are also relatively inexpensive, particularly on sale, so are very good value. the only qualm I have is that the turtleneck itself is knit as if it were a ribbed cuff, which means it is less substantial than the body of the sweater is. The result is that it doesn't stay up so well. Too thick and it would be too hot, I know, but in this case the body is medium weight and so I don't think that would be a problem. So I would prefer the knit for the neck to be like the body. But it didn't stop me from buying several colors.

This is an excellent turtleneck and a good value. However, describing the garment is "washable" is a little bit misleading. I expected that term to mean that it could be washed and dried in the same manner as the bulk of my other clothing (including my Smartwool 1/4-zip tops). But the care instructions require that it be washed on a gentle cycle, in cold water, with garments of like color, and that it be laid flat to dry (not be placed in a dryer). Because of these restrictions I must essentially wash and dry this garment separately from all of my other laundry. For this reason, I've given it 4 stars, rather than 5.

Lightweight wool. Not itchy. Excellent quality.

Great quality but gray alloy heather is light gray, not dark like in photo.

I bought this sweater for my husband. It is very fine merino wool, not scratchy. Washes up well :)
