Indigo Stamp Print Shirtdress

I sized down in this to xs but probably could’ve gone with my regular size small too though it would’ve had more of an oversized look. I’m typically a size 4. As other reviewers pointed out, the waist is a little high but I didn’t find it to be problematic. The blue is a royal blue color, leaning a little bit toward purple. It’s machine washable (yay for avoiding toxic dry cleaning chemicals). It’s overpriced for a simple polyester dress, to be honest, but it’s so dang hard to find cute dresses that aren’t too young or too old or too skimpy or too frumpy. So I’m keeping.

The fabric is beautiful and I wanted to love this dress, but on my petite frame it was huge around the waist, even in my usual size petite S. With the drawstring as tight as it would go I was still swimming in it. From the photo it looks like the fit is casual but not oversized, so I wasn't expecting it to be as big as it is. Will be sending back.

The dress is made of "recycled" polyester. I had imagined that the fabric would have more body but feels like silk and drapes well. It is not thin and clingy, though - it's a perfect medium weight. I would describe is as a very slightly wrinkled crepe. The contrasting color is off-white, almost cream. It's machine washable, hang dry. I love it! I usually wear a 1X in other brands but I think Nic + Zoe runs large and I always buy an XXL.

I am so disappointed. It's a beautiful dress constructed of lovely, lightweight fabric. I really like the sleeve detail. However, the dress is very short-waisted, and I'm a short-waisted person. Instead of flouncing delicately around a nipped in waist, the bodice is pulled taut and looks matronly. One of the few Nic+Zoe items I've returned.
