New Balance = New Lease of Life!
I’m a 66 yr old, overweight cyclist and granddad. I began to think about running again when our grandkids began doing the local Park Run with their parents a couple of months ago, but I was reluctant to place strain on my ageing joints ( my CV fitness is very good ).
Then I walked into the NB store at The Trafford Centre and spotted the scanning service. I explained my aims and concerns and was guided towards the shoes I eventually bought.
I cannot speak highly enough of the service and support I received and I’m delighted with the product I purchased. Since lacing them on I’ve completed 4x 5km runs with minimal discomfort in my joints and have registered for my first Park Run on Saturday, May 30th 2026…I’m pretty sure I’ll complete in less than 36 minutes. These New Balance trainers have given me a new lease of life.

Mixed bag for supinator with fused ankle
I ind V15 860's t9 be a mixed bag copared to V14. On the positive side, they seem to be more neutral, with less of the annoying anti-pronation effect often built into running shoes. I have a fused right ankle, and despite my surgeon's efforts, it is soewhat supinated. That Eans I tend to wear the right shoe out on the outer heel, and anti-pronation features just hasten this.
On the negative side, the higher stack height accentuates the "marshmallow" feel and interfere with balance. Also, even the 4E width leaves e little room in the toe box. The thicker padding may contribute to. the rate the right shoe wears off to the side, but it is too early to tell.
This morning I dug through my closet ad dug out an old pair of NB 457 trainers, in 6E width. The room in the toe box was immediately apparent. The soles are firm, and stable. I wish I could buy a pair today.
