Men’s versus women’s 840s
I normally use a size 9 wide in women’s because I use orthotics. I tried to men’s 7 1/2 B and they were extremely tight. There are no way that I can use my orthotics with these.I then ordered a 7 1/2 men’s E and they are actually still snug, but I can use orthotics and they’re OK with thin socks. So if considering purchasing a man’s size shoe instead of a women’s at least for this shoe, it is much more snug than expected. I love the 840s and wish they hadn’t been discontinued. It’s great shoe.

Slippery when wet
Slippery when wet. I feel like the components used in New Balance sneakers are plastic, shiny and lower quality. I have been buying NB for 40 years and still have some older models that i use for beach shoes/yard work The material difference from old to new is stark.

Half size smaller then the previous version
The shoes are nice and very comfortable. This version is half a size smaller than the 840v4. I normally wear a 11.5 in men. But with these I had to go a half size up so I got the 12 and they fit perfectly. The wide is comfortable as well.

Supportive
Excellent running sneakers with healthy stabilization and support. The stiff sole and soft foam combine to create the perfect training shoe for my middle schooler as he recovers from Plantar's fasciitis. The shoe has also been a great choice to my son who is dealing with Sever’s disease. Best of all my middle school aged kids like wearing them!

New springy rabbit sited in Paradise Valley
Excellent bounce when walking especially for someone who has two bad knees. Not exactly sure what fresh foam is but I like it. Bought my first pair of New Balance shoes from a magazine ad in 1976. They have only improved since then! They look really good too.
