Not new balance quality
Don’t really know how new balance dropped the ball with these, but the quality just isn’t there. Strange fit, very low heel. Overall the sort of product that would bring down a company’s reputation for quality.

Classic
I picked up a pair of the New Balance 480 in the classic black suede with the white and gum sole as I was looking for something to replace my Vans.
Really solid everyday shoe. The design is clean and classic so they go with pretty much anything, and the suede gives them a nice premium feel without being too flashy.
They are comfortable for daily wear and feel pretty supportive underfoot. The only thing I noticed is they run a little on the narrow side. I did go half a size down, which probably adds to that feeling, but they still fit great overall.
If you want a simple, classic sneaker that you can wear with anything, the 480 is a great option.
