Lafayette Knit Slip-On Sneaker (Women)

In the picture I have an 8W on my right foot and 8M on my left. The 8W measures 3.75" at its widest point and the 8M measures 3.6" (1/8" difference in width, both are 11" long). My foot measures 7.5 right between medium and wide. I like how the 8W feels (more room for toes) but the 8M doesn't seem narrow. However, I have a low instep so the shoe is not snug around the top part of my foot and my foot lifts out. I can slip them on without using my hands they are so loose. You can see I have a finger's width between my foot and the shoe. Both sizes slip on my heel. The insole is soft and cushy and feels nice barefoot. I like the look and the silver detail around the heel, but this shoe is designed for a foot with a higher instep. The size 8 is marked European size 38, which is really a 7.5 (I worked in the shoe industry - translating 8 to a 38 is to make the numbers easier but that isn't correct and you will then see comments that the shoe runs small, but it is because the sizing is off). This size translation also indicates the shoe is designed to be worn barefoot. If you prefer socks, you may have to go up 1/2 to one full size. I recommend Scotch Guard treatment to this fabric shoe. Not a bad shoe, just doesn't work with my low instep. My hunt for a white slip-on athletic shoe continues!
