No Flakes!
I've tried many types of liquid liner and they usually flake or won't draw on my eyes. I have trouble with getting the pen type liners to go on over my eyeshadow and the brush type builds up too thick and flakes off. This one really does the trick! Give it a little shake and the tip gets wet again so you don't have too much product to work with. I've never had a flake. But get your eye makeup remover out, ladies. This stuff's not coming off without it. Another plus!

Failed on an Asian Eye
I purchased this liner in the shade "Carpates" and I found the color to be a beautiful, deep, tarry black with a with a lovely sheen to the finish when dry. Some liquid liners that dry to a shiny, patent finish, or a subtle sheen reflect light and appear greyish in some lights...not this one, it remained a deep and fathomless black. Application was effortless, the formulation did not aggravate my extremely sensitive skin, and there were no fumes or aromas to irritate my eyes.
My signature liner look is a vintage cateye style but I have Asian eyes so the liner, along the upper lashline, must be able to withstand touching my hooded lid and that is where this one failed. I had trasnfer and smearing within a few hours as the oil in my skin completely broke down the integrity of the product. I had high hopes for this liner based upon reviews I'd read, but sadly I will be returning it.

Precise line, bland liner.
I recently bought this liner after a long search for the 'perfect' liquid liner. A Nordstrom beauty specialist recommended it and it also had lots of positive reviews so I went ahead and purchased one. After now using it a few times I am confused on why so many raved about it. Yes it gives a precise line but that's about it. It barely gives any color and is hard to layer to achieve a thicker center line. I have bought liners half this price that were far more impressive.

good intro to liquid liner
I wanted a liquid liner that is newbie friendly and got this based on other positive reviews. I liked it because it offered some control and it didn't irritate my eye when applying. But it did tend to smudge after several hours. I'm ok with it but have now found a liner I love (YSL Moire) but I appreciate this Nars for helping me overcome my fear of liquid liners.

Looks good on paper
This liquid eyeliner is a great idea.
I purchased my stilo in-store as a more subtle alternative to the Nars solid eyeliner in "Via Appia" - which is a great product.
The beauty staff mentioned that the liquid stilo can create a nice wing at the outside corner of the eye. She said to use the brush on the side (not tip) and even noted that holding the brush against the cap for a sec will release additional ink flow.
So I was well prepared to use the stilo correctly.
In actual practice, it is difficult to draw a consistent line with the stilo. The ink seems to start and stop. When I attempt to ink over the inconsistent initial line, a distinct top edge forms.
Is it just me?

great effect, hard to use
There is a learning curve on this item--I would guess it is the same for all brands, not just Nars. The stylo delivers a dark line so efficiently that getting a thin, even effect is difficult. However once figured out, it is possible to get this effect, which I prefer because of age (older) and personal style. It is a cleaner, darker, longer-lasting line than that of any pencil I've used, and it comes off fairly easily with just water and facial cleanser.
Also it is difficult to know when it is almost used up.
