Rider Skimp High Waist Straight Leg Jeans

I ordered these in The Confession wash, and I have to advise other shoppers - check the MOTHER denim site first, or read the product description carefully before buying. It's recommended that you size up one size in the nonstretch, rigid denim if you don't want to go through the breaking in process of required by the MOTHER SUPERIOR line, like old school denim. The Rider High Waist style runs small in general, so sizing up is also recommended for that. With The Confession wash, I sized up twice (once for the style, once for the rigid denim) and got a perfect, figure hugging fit with incredible wash details I still can't get over. For the stretch denim, in most other styles, my normal size fits every time.

The wash of "The Confession" is really cute- variations of "sandblasting" and different faded coloring throughout. Very vintage and worn-in looking. I love that they fit and feel like the vintage Levis- they are also more "rigid" like the vintage Levis so there is almost no stretch. They do fit small in the waist and there is no "give," so order up at least 1 size (as you would with vintage Levis) in order for the high and non-stretch fabric in the waist to fit. The length is spot-on just right. The leg opening is spot-on also- not baggy or sloppy, but not skinny either. I'm 5' 4", size 8/10 in bottoms, athletic build, short-waisted - I got the size 32 and they are an amazing fit except the stomach is quite tight. I never pay full price for anything, but I had to keep these! The wash is so unique. The vendor's site says that they "take a while to break in." Just don't expect them to be the super stretchy yoga pant-type fabric that all of the jeans have been made out of for the last several years, but ... they aren't uncomfortably rigid either. The cutest part of the wash is the back waistband area where there is a lot of variation in color (where the large leather tag looks taken off- again, like the old Levis) and the distressing all along the back waist area. So these will be great for cropped tops or tucked in shirts !

It's honestly hard to write a review because the fit is so odd. They run REALLY small. I have probably bought 7-8 pairs of mother in the past few years and I always wear a 25. In these, there is no way I could have zipped the 25 even if I laid down on the bed to do so. I did order one size up - still waiting for that to arrive but I don't see how they would fit. They are cool looking (like vintage Levi's) though!

I wear 26-27 in jeans. My weight fluctuates b/w 120-124lbs. I bought the rider mother jeans in 26 and they’re super stretchy and on the looser side. I bought the huffy pair from mother inn27 and it fit me just right requiring the little stretch given. But this pair is ridiculous unforgiving. 27 is tight in thighs. I bought 28 and no difference. I shouldn’t have to purchase a 29 to get the size right. Their sizing is all over the board. Women have thighs! Add some room in the leg area! Most women don’t have pencil legs! Sheesh!
