DON’T DO IT
These are some of the most poorly constructed shoes I have ever purchased. The tongue is not long enough, so when you tie them all the way up, the top of the tongue is below the ties, and the ties dig into the ankle. So I tied them below the hooks, where they would hit the tongue, but the hooks stuck out so much that they would grab the ties of the other shoe and my son was constantly tripping! How could Merrell manage to make such a disaster of a hiking boot after all these years?? I’m hoping I can still return them.

Great waterproof hiking boots
I bought my daughter a pair of waterproof Merrell hiking boots for a trip to Iceland and they did not disappoint! They kept her feet warm and dry, they kept grip on slippery surfaces and they were comfortable. I will definitely buy Merrill boots again in the future.

Shoes have major flaws - Merrell please redesign
The hooks are in the wrong place at a wrong angle and the tongue is too short just like other customers have said. My daughter also tripped twice because of it, just like others described. My husband decided to pull the hooks out to eliminate the hazard. Merrell, you can’t charge people this much money for poorly designed shoes. You should give everyone a refund.

Bought for my granddaughter to hike with. Broke them in in Alaska for a week and they are great! Comfortable, feet were dry and nice looking.
