Maya Angelou Portrait Book Set

Maya Angelou touched the hearts and souls of millions through her poems, memoirs, plays, films, and her civil rights activism. Moving and oftentimes painful reflections of her life are balanced by uplifting and joyous memories; her honest and unvarnished approach comes across as a guiding principle that lends the writings a beautiful weight. Juniper Books’ custom jackets feature an original painting of Angelou by Detour (Thomas Evans) – a Denver-based artist. Founder Thatcher Wine had seen the street murals and iconic portraits Evans painted around the RiNo neighborhood of Denver, including ones of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Tupac Shakur, and immediately knew he wanted to collaborate with him for our Toni Morrison and Maya Angelou sets. Learn more about this design and our collaboration with the artist, Detour, on our blog!  Each book in the set is a hardcover edition published by Random House and Modern Library.
