Not worth the money
I wasn’t prepared for a jacket with mesh sleeves and no filler, as well as 4 or 5 bands of down in the back. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be that warm, just looking at it.

Incredibly warm, a bit too baggy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket could keep you warm in a blizzard. It's that good. I feel like I'm walking around in a plush down comforter wrapped around me. Where it loses points is the form. I have to fold the hem because the fit is too relaxed and baggy. If you're tall and muscular, this won't be a problem for you. But I'm 5'6 190 and I struggle to wear this jacket without making it look like a coat. Color is excellent. As are the zippers everywhere. Definitely a jacket for sub-40F days. Too warm otherwise.

Lots of Compliments
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Subject to holes from bonfire flying embers and pocket zippers that break, this is an extremely comfortable and fashionable jacket for wilderness or urban adventures. Buy it in the Summer for 50% off. Color selection is artistic.
marmot.com response
Hello, thanks for your thoughtful and honest feedback on the Men’s Guides Down Hoody. We’re glad to hear it’s been a go-to for both wilderness and city adventures! Comfort, style, and warmth are exactly what this jacket is designed to deliver, so it's great to know it's hitting the mark in those areas. And we couldn’t agree more that the color selection is one of our favorite creative touches on this piece.
That said, we're sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced with flying embers and the pocket zippers. While down jackets like this one offer excellent insulation, the lightweight shell fabrics are more susceptible to damage from open flames or sparks, something to keep in mind around campfires. As for the zipper issue, that’s not something we expect, and we’d be happy to take a closer look under our Warranty.
Thanks again for being part of the Marmot community and for the pro tip about shopping in the summer!

Outstanding, as expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great coat for walking the dog on cold mornings/nights. The hood is perfect for keeping the wind out. I did not purchase this jacket with a lot of activity in mind. I needed a really warm and wind proof coat. On that basis, this scores a 5 for me. Design, quality and comfort all meet Marmot standards, if you own this brand. If not, I highly recommend giving them a try. Beyond clothing and outerwear, their tents and sleeping bags are hard to beat.

Fits good, warm
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Warm, comfortable and well fitting. A little bulkier than I need, but the good fit in a tall size more than makes up for it.
