What it does: Over-treated, irritated, acne-inflamed skin needs special care to help balance out the aggressive, drying nature of treatment products and prescriptions. This soothing mask helps calm skin and leaves it with a more even-toned appearance.
How to use: Apply a thin layer to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Let it sit for 15–20 minutes then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Follow with your moisturizer or night cream and use 2–3 times per week for best results.

Excellent when used with the Drying Mask
I have cystic, hormonal acne so most products don't work on my oily skin. I wash my face with the Mario Badescu (MB) Enzyme Cleansing Gel (using the Clarisonic Mia), tone using the MB Special Cucumber Lotion, and at night I alternate between the MB Healing and Soothing Mask and the Drying Mask (preceded by the Buffering Lotion). Individually, I don't think the two masks are that effective, but when used together as a regimen they are EXCELLENT. I have noticed a huge difference in texture of my skin and the frequency (or lack thereof) of my breakouts.
The Drying Mask dries out the acne spots and the Healing and Soothing mask puts the much needed moisture back into your skin as well as heals the dried out spots quicker WITHOUT leaving Acne Scars. I have even noticed my old acne scars starting to fade while using the Healing and Soothing mask.
Mario Badescu is an excellent product line and fairly inexpensive. If you can, I recommend using both the Healing and Soothing Mask and the Drying Mask alternately.

Super irritating
I tried this mask the other night. My skin was already a bit irritated, so when it didn't soothe my skin, I decided to give it another try. The next morning (when my skin was calm), I tried it again. I only left it on for 10 minutes because my skin was turning super red and irritated. My neck also developed an itchy rash. I had to use Cortizone 10. Something about it just really didn't work with my skin.

Just Didn't Like It
I love the idea of this mask, my face can get pretty dry with all of the products I use, but unfortunately I just didn't like it. The mask went on easy but it was too waxy to remove with just water. I had to use makeup removal wipes to get it off, which I felt was super harsh on my face. I returned after two uses and bought the drying mask and a night cream to replace it.

Feels nice but unsure if it's effective
This product feels nice on my skin but I'm not sure if it's doing anything to heal & soothe. I bought it on the advice of a Mario Badescu representative at their web site who told me to use it after applying the Buffering Lotion to an acne cyst. According to my dermatologist, these cysts are hormonal and although I usually have good/clear skin, I suffer from the odd cyst every few months and am on a constant quest for products to help. I will continue to try this mask as it is supposed to be hydrating but I can't say I saw noticeable results from the first few uses. However, a cyst is very difficult to treat so perhaps it will fare better in more general use.

Perfect for Troubled Skin!
This mask shows immediate glowing benefits when followed by a toner, (serum), and night cream. I've been using it for a year now and it still helps me recover from breakouts that cause redness and bumps. If used on alternating days with the drying mask, my pores get smaller and breakouts become completely faded within 5 days. Definitely recommend if you plan to use it consistently.
