Worst than previous Mantis 1
I have been using Mantis for many years and im very disappointed with this new model , instead of doing a better product you did a worse one . The zipper length space is smaller and i can not put my iphone pro max easily inside as with the previous Mantis , also the textile layer you added in the middle of the main pocket gets stucked when trying to put the mobile phone inside ( i had to swew it to the front part so i can insert the mobile properly, what a disappointment i don’t understand why you went backwards with the design. Also the waist belt and clip is way thinner, lets see how it performs.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share such honest feedback. We’re really sorry to hear that the updated version of the Mantis 1 Waist Pack has felt like a step backward for you. Your comments about the smaller zipper opening, the added textile layer interfering with how you stow your phone, and the thinner waist belt and clip highlight very real usability concerns, and we understand how frustrating it must be to have to modify the product yourself just to make it work the way your previous Mantis did. This isn’t the experience we want for someone who has trusted our gear over time. Your detailed feedback will be shared directly with our team so we can carefully consider it as we continue to refine future iterations of the Mantis 1 Waist Pack.

Nice quality and light weight.
Haven’t yet used it. But quality is great. Only thing I noticed was one of the zipper grip do get stuck in the zipper pocket below when you are closing the blow one. But not big deal.

New strap is dreadful
This used to be one of my favorite bags, but the revision means that it no longer easily holds my big iPhone (the one from two years ago did). It can fit, but it’s doesn’t easily slide in. Also the strap is narrow, less comfortable, and has sharper edges that are very abrasive to clothing. My poor Atom is full of micro tears after wearing it three times, and Arc’teryx won’t cover damage from the mantis bag under their warranty. Nothing super heavy. Not even my phone in there.
The older one had no problem.
Please change these things back!
Otherwise it’s very well laid out and a great size. But that doesn’t matter if a 1l bag shreds your clothes.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback on the Mantis 1 Waist Pack. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve experienced with the updated design, especially given how much you’ve enjoyed previous versions of the bag. Your concerns about the phone fit, the narrower strap, and the abrasion to your clothing are absolutely valid, and we understand how disappointing this must feel. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we’ve shared your comments with our product team as part of our ongoing design review process. Thank you again for your honesty and for being part of our community.

Small, but Mighty!
Upon delivery, I thought the bag was too small to be useful. But it has turned out to be perfect for my use case. I use the bag mainly when traveling/flying, which I do frequently. The external slot for the phone is a game-changer and makes the whole bag work. I can quickly slide the phone in the slot and not bother with the inside pockets, but still have the phone readily accessible. Larger phones may not fit, but it is fine for my iPhone 14 Pro. It is a snug fit, but that is good as i don't have to worry about the phone falling out. Another great feature is that the bag is just tall enough that it can hold a passport placed vertically in the main compartment - also handy when at an airport and I must keep pulling the passport out to show to various officials. The front zippered compartment is the right size for a driver's license when travelling domestically. Otherwise, I have space for ear buds (in the case), a bit of cash, house keys, a small pill container, a charging cable for my phone, lip balm, toothpicks, and a mint or two. I do wish that the strap was a bit wider, but it gets the job done. The bag is surprisingly small, yet its smart design allows me to hold much more than expected and fits my needs perfectly.
