Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum

I have smelled both the original (EDP) and the Extrait. This one is sweeter, more wearable. The EDP is too medicinal: it has notes reminiscent of alcohol or rubber gloves. If you didn't like that medicinal note but love the cotton-candy sweetness , then this version is for you. Docked one star because it is a different scent - NOT a stronger version than the EDP, therefore it should not be priced more expensive.

This exquisite fragrance is the best thing I have ever worn or smelled in my life. From the minute MFK made the extrait version, I was completely obsessed! Before quarantine happened, I would get stopped by at least 10 people to ask what I was wearing when I had this on. It is expensive, yes, but so unique and it truly does stay on until washed off.

I heard all the hype which is why I purchased this. Firstly, it doesn’t stay on me like others claim. Yes, you can put oil on first or Vaseline but if I’m spending over $400 on a bottle of perfume it better stick into next week. Secondly, the scent is just alright. I wore it and no one even really noticed or truly enjoyed it. I’m sad because I really wanted to love it.

Normally I purchase the Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum, which initially could only be purchased at Neiman Marcus or Saks. I was so excited when Nordstrom started carrying the line, but Nordie's only carries the Extrait de parfum, and not the Eau de Parfum. The difference is that the Extrait is more concentrated and therefore $125 more per bottle. I threw caution to the wind and dropped the $425 for the super duper concentrate, only to be underwhelmed by the upgrade. The scent was faint and only lasted an hour or two, as compared the to the Eau de Parfum which for me, lasts all day long. So I ended up returning the Eau de Extrait and purchased the Eau de Parfum from Saks. I'm sorry I had to do this as I'm very loyal to Nordstrom. Hopefully Nordstrom will add the Eau de Parfum to their line so in the future I can purchase it here. As far as the scent, well, it's worth every penny. It's the most amazing fragrance I've eve used and I get complimented every time I wear it. It's gorgeous!!

I sprayed this on my wrist one day and caught myself intoxicated with the explosion of notes throughout the day. I immediately rushed back and bought the 6.8 and have been layering it with the EDP 540 scented body oil. The compliments are endless. It’s not as sweet on me, when layering with the oil, the Citrusy Jasmin really pulls on my skin while the almond/saffron hits at the tail end. So yummy and different.
