Washed Leather Moto Jacket

This jacket is a tiny bit edgy but mostly sweet and I love that. It's made of very soft leather too. I have purchased around 6-7 of this style jacket from other makers for a cheaper price hoping for this exact jacket, but they didn't come close to this one and were all returned. I didn't want to pay the high cost of this look, but really you get what you pay for. My only negative is that in this jacket, I ordered an L as true fit suggested and I wish so much there was an XL in stock anywhere as it's a bit tight in what should be the armpit area (but sits a little lower into the very upper arm) then again I do usually wear a sweatshirt under (as seen in photos). I will keep this jacket though for sure, it's not a deal breaker for me as the rest of the fit is perfect.

I warned my husband that for my 50th birthday I wanted a leather motorcycle jacket. Even though my birthday is not until January I started looking online this month, knowing that it will take a while to find the perfect one. I had been casually looking for years but never came close to ever buying one because they were never quite right. I came across this one and it looked like a classic motorcycle jacket, just like the one I bought when I was 19 as part of my motorcycle gear. I had it for years until I got rid of it at some point after I retired for riding a motorcycle. Believe it or not, this jacket is BETTER than my original! I decided on a medium, I’m 5’8” and 125 pounds. The small fit but like others have said was tight in the arms AND I knew I wanted to wear sweatshirts so I went with the medium size, perfect fit for me! Admittedly, I am a punk so it’s kind of ridiculous that I went so long without a motorcycle jacket. So happy to have one again! It literally goes with ever single piece of clothing I own. I can wear with my punk band t-shirts, jeans and doc martens OR wear it more high-fashion items like my cashmere sweaters, designer jeans and Fluevog shoes. It’s totally awesome!

Made not so well, for me at least... I LOVE Moto jackets , have been collecting them for years and have one of the best collections then anyone I know ... The Madewell jacket had such *rave* reviews, just had to buy one to see if this jacket lived up to my expectations ... The smell of the leather had a rather medicinal smell... The leather was light and flimsy... The jacket itself looks better on the model ; in person it looks like any other Meh black leather jackets. The sleeves for reference were too long for me. Nothing special about this piece so it was returned. Possibly spoiled by some of my more high end pieces.

Like other reviews, I too have been in search of a perfect motorcycle jacket...and finally found it! I am an athletic 5'5", 135 lb frame (size 6-8) and the small fits perfectly zipped or unzipped. The arms are flatteringly fitted yet not tight with a lightweight tee or blouse underneath. The length works with everything from different types of jeans to dresses, etc... I can see myself wearing this with just about anything. Have worn it with worn boyfriend jeans as well as with high-wasted wool tweed pants and it looked sharp both ways. I received a compliment the first time I wore it and the person thought I had owned it for many years. It's a soft leather, light weight (not too light) and feels wonderful on. I am more than thrilled and have no remorse spending $500. I tried on a Vince motorcycle jacket double the price and preferred the Madewell. Hope this helps someone on the fence. :-)

I kind of agree with the previous reviewer that this jacket is not THE perfect leather jacket as reviews here and on the Madewell site lead us to believe. I love moto jackets and have more than a person really needs, After stalking this one for just about a year, I had to order it to satisfy my curiousity. I chose my normal size XS and feel it runs true to size. It is cut rather narrow in the shoulders/arms and larger in the body. I thought about sizing down to XXS but knew movement would be restricted in the arms and shoulders. The XS allows room for layering. After ordering online, I saw an XS at my local Nordstrom and bought it on the spot because they price matched a 30% off sale on another website (thanks Nordstrom!). When the online jacket arrived, there was a very slight difference in fit between the two so I kept the one that had a more snug fit and returned the other. The leather is soft, lightly distressed and comfortable right out of the box - no break in time required, an ideal jacket for a warmer climate. One last note - the back is shorter than the front; from a side view there is a downward taper from back to front, If you have a long torso this may be a dealbreaker. I would not pay full price for this jacket but at 30% off it's a nice addition to my wardrobe.
