Sleek, minimalist, looks expensive & must buy

I own this in black and its my favorite of all work totes. The shoulder and hand straps are comfortable, and don't dig into your shoulders they way the LV Neverfull in Damier does. It holds my MacBook Pro 14" with a sleeve, an LV agenda GM with a Leuchtrum 120GSM planner, makeup bag, pencil pouch, and even a YSL camera bag (darn those TSA rules with a 1 carry one and 1 personal item). The first time I held this tote, I wasn't sure because it was so lightweight and looked a bit boring, and minimalist. I felt it needed to have "more", but I've changed my mind the moment I filled it up with stuff and took it to work. I've used this bag now for 4 months and it still looks new, it travels well and since its so light, I don't dread carrying it to work or on the plane. I wasn't going to buy another color but now after considering how much I like it, I may need to get it in this lighter color.

Disappointing quality

I bought this for a gift but didn't feel like it was good enough quality to gift. The leather felt cheap, the handles were stiff and small, the tote was also smaller than i expected. Definitely not what i expected from Madewell.

I don’t see the value for price

Even on sale at $125, I think this is overpriced. The straps are very thin and not sturdy. The video says you can put a laptop in it, which was my plan. I feel like it would break if I even tried my small laptop. More flimsy than expected & can’t use for work. Will return.

perfect size

I think this may A sale win. I got the wine color (sold out) but the tan would be nice for spring/summer. Large enough for many things but doesn’t look oversized. Has an interior elastic to hold a water bottle. How clever! I get a The Row vibe.

Excellent bag for an excellent price

I'm very fussy about my everyday bag and this is excellent at the right price. Space on outside for my phone, inside a spot for your water bottle and two lengths of handles. Love the videos showing the bag. Those videos really help sell.

Nice bag but just mediocre

Bought this bag on the anniversary sale. I love the shape, size and color of the bag, however the leather is thin, unstructured and scratches show up very easily. The scratches happened after the first use of the bag! I took it on a weekend trip and through the airport it probably got scratched up during handling in security. I used leather conditioner to fix the bag and the scratches are somewhat less visible now but still there.
