love the color and length

I like how the color is different than what I’d normally find in denim. The ankle exposure is cute too. I didn’t realize it was button-fly til I tried it on at home and it was really stiff at first and I thought I’d break a nail getting the buttons in the button holes but it’s now softened up. The material is definitely heavier and stiffer, would probably take up more room in a suitcase so may not take it on an upcoming trip although u am torn because I love them otherwise, just needed to break them in first.

these are low rise?

What the description fails to mention is this are supposed to “sit low on the waist”. It’s also designed to have a very short crotch/butt seem. So weirdly gives a wedgie but at the same time is very loose on your cheeks. The legs are nice shape which is a bummer. Will have to find a different rise. Also ordered 30 my usual size and they were way too big. Even as a low rise.

Smaller than other washes

I love the Madewell darted barrel jeans and own them in three different washes. They do run la bit arge but that's also part of their charm. I am a 27 in most jeans but always get a 26 in these. However, these jeans in the Kale wash were ridiculously smaller on me, both shorter and more snug. I see from previous reviews they run big for other shoppers. For reference, I am 5'6", 135 with an athletic build.

Cute and comfy

I love the style, color, and fit of these jeans. I’m 57 and was afraid the barrel style would be too “young” for me but it’s not overly barreled. Also length was good for me but I might cut them just a little. Super cute. Fit slightly small. I’m normally a 26 but ordered the 25. Washed and minimal shrinking.

size down

I think these pants are pretty cute. They are minimally barrel cut. These do run pretty large! I am normally a size 28 in denim. I returned them for a 27 which still fits loose. I could’ve opted for a 26. These fit ankle length on me, I’m 5’-4” tall.

Cute, loose fit

Madewell sizing is all over the place for me from 25-27, ended up right in the middle with 26 for these. The 25 was cuter, it hugged the butt nicely, but there’s no stretch in these so it really dug into the waist and crotch. 26 fit like the model, a little looser. Love the color on these, perfect for fall.
