What it is: MAC Viva Glam Lipstick is a lipstick with a history and a message.
What it does: Every cent from from the selling price of MAC Viva Glam Lipstick goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDs. In 1994, MAC introduced Viva Glam, an outspoken deep red that was universal in its appeal and its glamour. In 1997, a second lipstick was created, Viva Glam II, a lightly pinked mauve. Viva Glam III, a foxy brown plum lipstick was launched in 2000. Viva Glam IV, a heartful rose charged with gold, was introduced in March 2002. In March 2004, Viva Glam V makes its debut, a clear, smooth, pure neutral pink with a delicious Lustre finish! Viva Glam VI, the newest member of the Viva Glam family, is a warm terracotta-plum with pearl finish.
How to use: Apply to your lips directly from the lipstick bullet or with a lip brush for more precision. Use with a lip pencil for a longer-lasting look with deeply saturated color.

MAC-FABULOUS!
The perfect red; not too orange, not too blue and oddly enough not even too neutral! It's a sort of browned out red which gives it a depth of color and the richness of what you'd expect from a great red. I'm 65 and this gives my complexion a balance of color. You know, when you get older skin pigment changes, teeth get naturally dull. If you can't afford teeth whitening ar expensive facials then wear a great red lipstick. Younger or older...... THIS IS IT!

Careful on color swatch
Heads up: the color for Viva Glam II is way darker than the swatches make it appear. I have deep skin and thought it would be a nude-ish pink. It was more mauve with some sheen.

Viva Glam lll versus Viva Glam lll Rihanna
I have been wearing Viva Glam lll for years. As you may know, the Viva Glam series comes in different shades (l through Vl). I assumed, therefore, that Viva Glam lll Rihanna would be the same shade as traditional Viva Glam lll -- except with a different surface (frostier) look. It's not! It's a much pinker red (in spite of the Mac product description) than Viva Glam lll, which has more blue in it. I placed both shades on my hand, as well as next to each other in the tube. They are definitely different colors. Just so you know!
A benefit to the Rihanna, assuming you don't mind the color difference: It stays on longer.
I'm giving the Rihanna 4 stars instead of 5 simply because, on a personal level, I just don't like the way the color looks in comparison to the traditional Viva Glam lll. If you don't mind a pinker, much brighter red, you might want to consider it.

The perfect red lip
I've been using Mac Russian red everyday for the last 2 years. I thought I'd try something new and I love this color. It has the lasting power of about 1000 kisses. Lasts me all day (a good 8 + hours.) This includes me smoking, drinking and laughing my head off. It is a very silky matte unlike Ruby Woo (love the color but its so DRY) and others.

Viva Glam II
Looking for the perfect nude? Look no further! I'm a fair skin tone and every nude lipstick seems to go orangey on me; not this one! It's rich in color and feels smooth and hydrating. I paired Viva Glam II with Subculture liner and Nice Buzz Plushglass gloss for a pouty nude lip! Love it!

Viva Glam III ~ The Only Lipstick I Wear!
I have been using MAC’s Viva Glam III for over 20 years. It’s the only lipstick I’ve used consistently during the past 20 years because no other one (I’ve tried several) looks as good against my skin. It works well with all the colors I wear.
Another benefit of using a Viva Glam lipstick is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of all Viva Glam products are used to support men, women and children worldwide who are living with HIV/AIDS (see Wikipedia). What can be better than knowing that everyday, when you put on your lipstick, you are helping people in need?
The only criticism I have of Viva Glam III is that it comes off easily. I didn’t penalize it for this defect by removing a star from its evaluation because I have had this experience with all the lipsticks I’ve used throughout my life. I've simply never been able to find one that stays on. — HARP
