Veluxe Brow Liner is the artist's pencil of perfection. Its highly pigmented formula gives immediate, precise application, while its rich powdery texture gives a matte and velvety payoff. Excellent eyebrow pencil. Using the side makes it an almost powdery pencil. Surely different. Using the point or tip draws a delicate line or a fantastic filler for sparse spaces in the brows. The little brush on the reverse side is an added future but a true necessity to make your eyebrow have a professional appearance. The assortment of of various shades is awesome.
I have treated blonde hair and frequently I were wigs. My wig selection is highly diversified in the color area going from a blonde, to brunette, to a tipped golden blonde, to frosted shades of blonde. I selected the 'brunette' shade for a brow liner crayon pencil and believe it or not 'brunette' matches astonishingly all the above colors. So if you having difficulity with choosing a color and you have blonde hair don't hesitate taking my suggestion.
ONLY CON with this eyebrow pencil is it can't be sharpened without ruining the tip (it breaks off). MAC has to rectify this issue or decrease their price. Much too expensive just to keep purchasing every month. Us gals need a pencil we can sharpen and create a point in order to use the crayon satisfactorily.

MAC Veluxe Eyebrow Pencil - Brunette
This review is in part, Nordstrom's fault. The site doesn't show the color swatch of the pencil I ordered, but they show one of the other colors available. For the color I purchased, brunette, it merely showed a pencil tip, which looks brown online, and should be brown.
It was not, it was a ash/beige tone and would work on a super fair skinned blonde person, but not a brunette. There is a weird film on the pencil (not a plastic outer wrap) that causes the wood of the pencil to disintegrate/shatter when sharpening, because a sharpener has to work too hard. The tip you finally create when able to get one, falls off immediately as soon as touched to the skin; causing you to keep sharpening.
The end with a brush, is to merely there to give the illusion you're getting a long pencil, but for 20.00 the pencil lead is short and wouldn't last a week, two, if lucky if you use this product everyday.
The only bonus to this pencil is it does have a powder finish, and if the right color, would look very natural. I do not know if would be long wearing, as it was blonde in color and did not wear. I am a brunette. Way too overpriced compared to 5.00 drugstore pencils that work ten times better.
Nordstroms uses way too large a packaging for products, and it's very wasteful. So is using UPS for something under 2 ounces.

Loved, but can't sharpen
After reading the reviews, I was excited to try this product. It's somewhere between a powder and a liner, so it went on smoothly. The color was perfect, and the brush made it look natural.
Unfortunately, after the liner got to a point that it needed to be sharpened, it became useless. I used multiple sharpeners, only to have the same results: the product broke and smeared all over the sharpeners, and the tip just wouldn't hold up after I managed to get it semi-sharpened.

Natural looking
I'm blonde and have trouble finding makeup light enough. Now that I'm older, I find that my eyebrows are disappearing. I tried other eyebrow pencils and they're too dark. This one is light enough that I don't look like Bette Davis in Now, Voyager before her transformation. It goes on easily without having to press down on the tip. The other end has a brush, so I can blend it. The color is a pale brown. No red in it that I can see. The occasional grey is covered also. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't affect it. I can now express surprise or displeasure with my eyebrows again. Look out world!

Blond??
I want to purchase this and I love the smooth and powdery finish to MAC's brow liner and the MAC line but wondering why the omission of a tone that works for blonds? The Strawberry Blond option is too red for most and better blond options are offered by almost all cosmetic lines.

Perfect for Redheads
Finally, an eyebrow pencil for us redheads! If you have auburn hair, this is what you've been waiting for. Plus, the texture of the pencil -- somewhere between a powder and a pencil -- goes on beautifully.
