Studio Face and Body Foundation

I am 65 with light, freckled (which I love), combination skin that is wrinkled, scarred, and sensitive. I ordered this in shade N1, recommended by Findation. Perfect shade for me. Skin washed with Eucerin gentle hydrating cleanser, followed by Dr. Carver's miracle repair serum, then bareMinerals Prime Time Original primer. SHAKE THIS FOUNDATION WELL. Apply as you would primer, USING FINGERS in long, downward strokes so that facial hair does not stand up, but will lay flat in the direction in which it naturally grows. I used one coat on my face since I like sheerness, not a mask. This lets my freckles show. I applied a second coat on my neck, where scarring is apparent. Applying the second coat just made scarring less visible; the second coat was as smooth as the first. I looked at the result in sunny morning light, northern exposure, and the foundation is undetectable. It looks like my skin with its shade evened out and refined. I haven't wanted to use foundation because of their masklike effects which accentuate rather than improve the look of skin, therefore reinforcing the belief that foundations are aging. It does not settle in lines; it just makes them less noticeable. My own skin, only better. Bobbi Brown bronzer and pot rouge applied like a dream and look their best. No powder necessary. I understand from other reviews that this should look at the end of the day as good as it does now. I have no doubt it will. I will not be without this foundation. I just love MAC Face and Body Foundation. Its provides sheer, buildable coverage and makes my face looks so radiant and healthy. I'm 59 years old and the product doesn't settle into my fine lines, which is great. It also does a good job of covering the slight redness in my face and does not aggravate my extremely sensitive skin. I am a light/medium, cool skin tone and I wear the shade N2 in this foundation. The product is very thin and is best applied with fingers, because you need to warm the foundation up and rub it in really well to achieve the desired results. My skin is combo and I tend to get a little oily in the t zone, so I set F & B with Mineralized Skin Finish powder The only thing I am sorry about is that I didn't purchase the large size bottle. I will definitely buy this product again when I run out.

I don't use this for my face (I tried once and it broke me out) but I do use on my upper arms and thighs, where I have a few minor blemishes and it works brilliantly. It's a water-based foundation and as a result, has a very thin consistency compared to most other foundations I own. Being so light, it doesn't give a huge amount of coverage, sheer at best, but it's buildable, and I find I get the best results when applying with my fingers, as opposed to a brush or sponge. Expect a light evening out effect but not for it to disguise anything too prominent such as recent scars or dark, prominent pigmentation. Finding the right shade can be tricky as the shade range is quite small. Also, my arms are a few shades lighter than my face, so anything close to the NC42 I normally use on my face, would be too dark on my arms. One thing to bear in mind is this gives a VERY dewy, radiant finish, and no amount of setting powder will change that. But despite not being a fan of the dewy look, I always come back to this because unlike every other body foundation I've tried, this is the only one that stays put, in even the hottest and most humid of summer days (a given where I live). The lightweight, leak proof plastic bottle makes it very travel-friendly and I often take this with me when heading away. I just wish it contained some SPF. I have really dry, slightly acne prone skin. I was interested in a foundation that doesn't look cakey with all of my other products on top -- and this is perfect! This foundation makes my skin look naturally perfect. It gives a very dewy effect, which I love, but I'm not sure how this would work for combination/oily skin types. I honestly think it's worth a try with a good setting powder, since the powder stays in place really well and completely covers the shine from the product. I only use powder on my t-zone. This technique allows me to have a highlight without even using highlighter. I use C4 and my skin has a slight tan right now but has a reddish tone to it with freckles -- I like that my freckles still show through. I have found that my favorite way to apply the foundation is using my fingers -- I shake the bottle, dispense a decent amount in my fingers, apply in circular motions until I feel the product starting to set, then blend it in with my fingers. You will need a concealer to cover blemishes since this is only light to medium coverage (it is build-able.. I use 2-3 layers of product usually). I have found that this order -- moisturizer, primer, foundation (allow it to sit for 5 minutes or more), concealer, then setting powder -- works best for me. Best purchase I've made in a while!

Mac Face & Body Foundation is one of my faves. It's become my go to. I'm combo skin light skinned with lots of red tones, I use N2. I use Mac Prep & Prime pressed Powder over the foundation for a poreless flawless complexion. Also this works awesome with a stippling brush. It's a bit buildable but still intended for a sheer glow no makeup look.
