What it is: A Nordstrom-exclusive set to help you create an everyday look, with an eyeshadow palette, Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara and Technakohl Eyeliner.

What it does: The gift-able eyeshadow palette is filled with eight coordinated shimmering hues that can be used wet or dry. The Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara is a lightweight, whipped carbon black formula that adds dense volume, extends the length of your lashes and creates curl while conditioning for softness and flexibility. Technakohl is a mechanical pencil-style liner with a soft, creamy formula and intense, rich color. It blends on application and dries quickly to a long-wearing, no-smudge finish. The versatile liner easily lines the top and lower lashlines of the eye. When applied at a 90-degree angle, it provides a thin precision line. For thicker application, apply at a flat angle. It's transfer resistant, safe for use on your waterline and lasts for up to eight hours.

I like them both

I actually got both cool and warm sets. It’s such a great value. So about MAC eyeshadows, they don’t really have heavy colors. What I mean by that is, you could need to apply multiple times to have a moderate color, unlike CT eyeshadows in that sense. The good thing about it that is you can’t possibly overdo your eyeshadow. Maybe it is a disadvantage too depends on what type of look you are going for. I like both pallets as you do get the most basic and yet versatile color themes. Mascara is not the dramatic type too but it does a good job to give you a natural look. Very suitable for office and a day out type of look. If you are looking for a heavy makeup look for clubbing, these wouldn’t be the right set. I’d get CT for that.

Would not recommend

I bought the eye kit in both colorways because I was excited about the color schemes, but I will probably end up returning both because their performance on the eye is disappointing. The palettes look promising when swatched with fingers, but all of the mattes are sheer, dusty, and difficult to build up with a brush. All of the medium shades are similar in hue and very grey-toned so they end up looking muddy and tired on the eye. The darkest shade in each palette is the only one dark enough to add depth or deepen the outer corner, but they are also very sheer and chalky and end up looking grey. The metallics are okay, but they are all similar light-medium shades and can't be used to add depth -- for $45, this isn't worth it. I did not try the eyeliner or mascara in the kit.

Great colors, bad quality

I was so excited to receive this palette since I only own one tiny palette. The UD Naked Palette Basics 2. I love the colors in this Mac palette. The color are warmer than in my current palette. Even if I prefer wearing matte shadows, I didn’t mind the few glittery shadows at all. They are beautiful and the swatch well (see pictures). The matte shadows though were a disappointment. The lightest color barely shows up. The darker colors do but they are hard to blend. They feel really dry and chalky compared to the UD palette (buttery, soft and easy to blend). Unfortunately, I don’t have time to blend more than necessary in the morning, so I’ll have to return this one. 1 star for the colors and 1 star for the size. I tried the mascara as well and didn’t like it because I don’t like that brush. Didn’t give me any volume. Didn’t try the eye liner though.

Nice neutral palette for cool skintones

Colors are good for everyday use. Good pigments, smooth application. Glad there was an option of a cool set and warm set. Most neutrals are too yellow on me, but this set works well.
