Lynda Tailored Utility Pant

I’m usually a 6 or 4-6 small. The Small in this pant was much too tight around the hips and waist. Nordstrom did not have size Medium in stock so I wait-listed for it on the Modern Citizen website. The website had a “petite” (aka short) pant length and an option to order the pant without the side cargo pockets. I ordered the short, no-pocket version because I find that cargo pant pockets add extra bulk to the look. Pants in medium fit much better, although still a little snug in the waist. The cut of the pants is wide leg but not overwhelmingly so, and there are toggles at the hems to tighten them into more of a jogger pant look. Since I eliminated the cargo pockets, I have no need for the toggles. The “short” length is perfect for my height. I took one star off because the pant does not have any belt loops. I think it needs them if you want to “elevate” your look. Very reasonable price point for a well-made pair of pants.

It appears the manufacturer decided to put the darts in the front of the pants after the pattern was made. The result is two bulky wads of fabric at the waistline in the front. Darts on the back of the pants are as they should be. How this glaring error made it into production is surprising. The pants were also very large. Too bad. I wanted to like them but returned.
