Our signature Tencel fiber is a long staple fiber hence it lends itself to extreme softness (think Egyptian cotton). It gets softer and fluffier after each wash due to the properties of the natural fiber. It blends in with the print on lighter-colored garments, but on darker base colour fabrics, the fiber will be more visible. This is not a defect, and in fact, it's a natural property of the TENCEL fiber. The best way to eliminate friction on the fabric is to launder items inside out. We know how frustrating it must be to follow all the care instructions and still see fading and changes in the fabric after just one wash, especially when you loved the design so much. This definitely isn’t the experience we want for our customers, and your feedback about the Planets print and darker colors is incredibly important to us. We take quality concerns seriously and will be sharing this with our product team for further review. All of our fabric dyes are all-natural, water-based dyes. There may be slight colour run-off the first couple launderings. The best way to maintain the colour vibrancy is to launder items insideout and with detergent designed for dark fabrics. We are grateful for your taking the time to share your experience. We always want the little ones using our products to be safe, comfy & stylish. We use high-quality, German-made water-based dyes (never synthetic chemical dyes) for all our prints, and our fabrics are tested for colourfastness to ensure safety and durability through 50 wash/dry cycles. However, with darker prints on TENCEL™ Lyocell, which is made from natural wood pulp fibres, you may notice a slight change in texture or appearance after washing. This is a natural process called fibrillation — it’s what gives the fabric its signature softness and silky "peach skin" feel. To help maintain the vibrancy of darker colours, we recommend washing the garment inside out on a gentle cycle and using a detergent formulated for dark fabrics, such as Woolite Dark Defence, since traditional detergents often contain whiteners or bleach. Please rest assured that the possible slight colour run-off of the natural dye and fibrillation does not affect the product's safety, comfort or usability.
