Long Sleeve Geometric Shirtdress

I ordered three 'shirt dresses' from different brands because I find the style flattering. The other two in size XL fit well overall (one was Marine Layer, the other CeCe). This one was far too small in the top, and I couldn't even fully put it on to get a sense of it beyond the sizing. Even the wrists were tiny! I could tell if I tried to put this one fully, I would've ripped seams across the back/chest, and I'm not a large-chested person relative to my sizing (most size XL dresses fit fine).

I really love the pattern of this dress, I love the pleated bottom, I had high hopes. But when it arrived, the sizing was off. I’m 5‘9“ tall, so factor that in, but the sleeves were too short, definitely above my wristbone and the chest was too tight. The body overall was pretty floaty, but I could fix that with a belt. But I would have to pin the top which makes for a higher maintenance dress than when I was hoping for. You’ll notice the waist is pretty high on this, it’s great for some and I could easily correct that by removing the two loops. Just not quite right.
