Bonded Cotton Jacket

I am shopping for a raincoat for a trip to Ireland and Scotland. I am rejecting this coat option because the material is both heavy from a warmth perspective and heavy from a weight perspective. It’s far heavier than any other raincoat I have. Given that I may want to wear my coat as an all day parka in case it rains….i don’t want to have so much built in heat. I prefer to choose layers to adjust under the coat. Second note against this coat…. The zipper on this coat is a simple single zipper. Meaning it’s not a double zipper and you can’t open the zip from the bottom for comfort. The pockets on this coat are just a simple snap pocket that aren’t sewn behind the lining, they’re cheaply dangling inside. I prefer a coat that has more pocket options, like inside security pockets or the outside pocket being a combo or two layer pocket with a slip pocket behind the snap pocket. For travel, I want the bonus features that make it nice to safely carry things in pockets. All of the above aside the petite size coat fit me well. I’d say it runs slightly big, but I’d buy your true size so you can choose how heavy to dress underneath.

This jacket is so well constructed, with some nice features. The snap-closure outer pockets are deep enough to hold all you will need on a trek, and the hood's bungee cord customizes its fit, as well as the interior waist bungee cord which gives you a nice waistline. The fit is small, especially in the shoulders. I normally would take a petite L, but had to exchange it for a petite XL. In the larger size, it should fit over light weight clothes like a tee and jeans, but not a cushiony sweater. The jacket is heavier than I expected and seems warm enough for my winter needs in Phoenix. It would be a nice travel jacket, but it will not fold into a nice little package for your suitcase.
