Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder

Its mattify and make your skin looks clean without any cakiness, the texture is very sheer and spreads on very smoothly. It does last long altho not 12hrs as claimed. I have light medium skin, and #200 Buff matchs me well. The lightest shade is 100 Ivory ( neutral/yellow undertone, the color isnt close to Porcelain but still match white skin ). 150 Ivory is an unnatural pinkish, I dont know why they listed it in the Ivory range coz its even a lot darker than #200 buff.

I bought this based on a review by a beauty blogger. I typically don't like pressed powder but I've become a big fan of this. I have combination skin with a really oily t-zone. Over the past few months I've tried a number of different foundations, and I've come to learn that the effectiveness of this powder can be dependent on what I'm wearing underneath it. If my foundation is one that will separate on my t-zone after a few hours, this powder can only "repair" that for so long. But if you want to do a quick, easy touch-up in the late afternoon, this is great because you can't actually see it, you just see the good effects from it. The one thing I would like changed is that they put a mini brush in the compact, not a sponge. But that's my personal preference. For reference, I am fair/light (blonde hair green eyes), with neutral-leaning-yellow skin tone, NW15 in MAC Studio Fix and the 200 Buff is perfect.

To start off, I have very oily skin that stems from dehydration (odd mix, I know!); when choosing products, I have to be careful about not emphasizing the dry "patches" that can show up, while at the same time making sure not to aggravate the oiliness. This lancome mattifying powder sets makeup beautifully. It definitely smooths out the pores and let any of the dry patches on my skin show through. The texture of the powder is also extremely fine but doesn't create fall-out as some finely milled powders do. The color isn't so stark to create a problem if you buy a shade up or down. It does exactly as is described...except for one thing: control shine. Within about an hour of using this product, my skin starts to get a bit "dewy" looking, which indicates that full-on oil breakthrough is imminent on my skin. I thought this was a bit disappointing because a drugstore mattifying powder that I sometimes reach for can at least control all shine for up to 4-5 hours. This isn't a huge problem because you can layer this product without it looking "cakey" but I do think if you're looking for a product that keeps you matte all day without touch ups, this isn't going to be your solution.
