Kathleen Maxi Slipdress

I wasn’t expecting this slipdress to be a win for me. The fabric is slightly heavier than I anticipated, but I think helps it drape really nicely and allows for the great cut of the dress. (It will make it slightly less breathable on my legs, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay for a dress that is flattering AND comfortable…I don’t compromise on those two things anymore.) I often struggle to find dresses that comfortably fit and compliment my broad shoulders/ribs and then look good on my lower half, which is pretty straight below my high waist. I think the tailoring in the bust area helps the draping, so I didn’t feel like I was wearing a Mrs. Roper mumu dress (I’m dating myself there… I’m 44 yo for reference. It even has pockets! And, I should add, the pockets don’t interfere with the cut and add bulk. I am interested to try changing up the straps; I’ve only tried it on with them in the traditional way, but curious to try the criss-cross and see how that impacts the bust area. I will wear a strapless bra with it. I like that this can be dressed up or down with jewelry and shoes. It is a bit lower cut in the front, but not so much that I’m self-conscious. But, I wouldn’t be wearing this to work, but I think it will be great for vacation, weekend errands/lunches, concerts, nights out, etc. For reference, I’m 5’8”, 155 lbs, broad shouldered/ribbed with a fairly undefined high waist, a not flat belly, straight hips and somewhat flat behind.

Feels like wearing drapes. I was so excited to get this as I love the cut of it with the V neck. However, the fabric is so heavy; honestly felt like drapes/curtains fabric it's so heavy. I feel like I would bake on a warm day. And no slit or vent. What's up with that? I'm so bummed as I had high hopes. Maybe if it was shortened and a slit added it could maybe work but I'm on the fence about if it's worth all that effort.
