Precision Eye Definer

Brilliant design, took me a bit to figure it out, though (no instructions with packaging--?). Pull down on the portion of the casing that holds the pencil to advance it. Only do this once! More than that, and you'll lose product to breakage when the cap is screwed back on and sharpens the pencil. The product glides on smoothly and stays in place throughout the day. Love it.

I've used many eyeliner brands over the years, and, for me, this Kevin Aucoin eyeliner is simply the best. Unlike other "self-sharpening" eyeliners, this one actually keeps it's fine point, due to a built-in sharpener in the screw-on lid. You can smudge it a bit just after application, then it actually does become smudge-proof, even on my lower lids. It's easy to remove as well with soap and water or makeup remover wipes. I've never had the tip break off, as many other self-sharpening eyeliners tend to do. It also lasts longer than most. I'm blonde and fair, so pure black eyeliner is a little harsh on me, but this "ironclad" shade is perfect - a dark grey that is nearly black but not quite, and more versatile with various makeup palettes than brown. Its smooth glide-on doesn't pull at my skin and makes it easy to apply a thin line or a thicker one. Finally, I have sensitive skin and eyes, and I have never experienced any irritation from this eyeliner.

I don't know what all the hype is about this line, at least the pencil. First off, it is nothing special in terms of glideability (is that a word?) and subtlety. I prefer understated and this is definitely more defining, at least in the brown color. It does stay put but again, it is nothing special, certainly not worth twice the price of most other good brands that Nordstrom carries. Finally, the thing doesn't work. The advancing mechanism (twist) does not work and I've only used it three times. Definitely returning this if only for that reason!
