Delightful feminine scent in a gorgeous bottle
I took a chance and bought this online without the benefit of a scent test, primarily because of the beautiful red bottle. I'm glad I took the risk. I have a lot of Jo Malone fragrances and this one is a bit different. It does have a light powdery scent to it, slightly reminiscent of Kenzo's "Flower" fragrance which I used to wear. I enjoy it and so does my husband. My only complaint, which is minor, is that this is one of JM's "intense" fragrances, but it doesn't seem to last as long as the other scents in the intense line do.

Nice scent for 60 seconds and its gone
This scent is very elegant - the problem is its gone after a minute. Tried this on my friends - same disappointing effect. Not what I would expect form Intense collection. It is my 4th intense scent from Jo Malone but with this one definitely something went wrong in production - Scarlet Poppy Cologne is not intense and it lasts 60 seconds. ... and no, I refuse to mix it with another scent - I bought this sent for how it smells and mixing it makes it different scent, so what's the point in buying it in the first place...

Lovely spring/summer tonka scent
The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Bijaoui. Top note is Ambrette (Musk Mallow); middle notes are Poppy, Fig and Orris; base notes are Heliotrope, Tonka Bean and Barley. It is softly sweet, easy to wear. The two main notes I get are fig and tonka. Gorgeous bottle too. I still prefer Myrrh & Tonka but this one is lighter and will work through the spring and summer.

Simple yet complex
At first I was underwhelmed with the scent. I sprayed a bit on my arm and thought it was a bit generic and boring. Boy was I wrong! This is not a scent that can be captured with a dab or a scented blotter. It needs to be spritzed for it to come to life. I really have no ideas what poppies smell like but I can smell cassis or a fleshy dark berry that gives it a slight tang and keeps it from becoming too powdery It actually has quite a bit of dimension and love the fig and orris notes. I had sprayed this the other day and then caught a whiff hours later. I instantly thought that I was wearing a Byredo before I remembered it was my new JM. That was my turning point since Byredo is one of my favorite houses. Well done!
