Basil & Neroli Cologne

At first I thought it was rather redundant for a new Jo Malone scent to have basil in the name. Lime, Mandarin and Basil is the signature scent in this line, so what is different about this new mix? Basically, the original is great, but it could be said that it veers to unisex, even masculine and can seem like a nice scent for the kitchen. Basil and Neroli is basically like the feminine counterpart of Lime, Mandarin and Basil. If you find Orange Blossom too fruity or sweet, this greener version might be preferable. I would think either of these classics would blend beautifully with Basil and Neroli. This new classic lives up to the hype.

This is my very first jo malone fragrance to date because for the longest time, i cannot justify paying $130 for a cologne! I just never bothered. But when i got a sample of this particular scent in the mail, it changed my fragrance persperctive. The first couple of spritz i thought this is a scent that i never would bother to buy. But i was wrong! I caught myself sniffing my shirt or scarf throughout the day and by the 4th day, i ran to Nordstrom to purchase the whole bottle. I know that cologne preference is very personal, but this cologne matures well with me and it has a decent lasting power. It even lingers on my jackets and scarves in a very pleasant way. I will definitely be looking in to this brand more. It's worth the money if you ask me. It's very unique and personal. Every other perfume in the market is like a copycat of another. But this one is sooo unique with my body chemistry. Also the Nordstrom in Short hills mall has the friendliest SA eveerrr (forgot the name though, but you know who you are!) !

I ordered this along with a smaller other Jo Malone from Nordstrom. Both were delivered tossed together in one plastic bag with a ziplock type closure in a brown box with some brown packing paper. Normally when you buy any perfume they come at least in a container box and Jo Malone is no different. It was appalling and so disrespectful frankly to be sent products clearly spent money on in such a wanton manner. In addition to this - both bottles caps smelled like they had been sprayed. I have returned both items this morning to the store and re-ordered from another retailer. This is the second time this has happened- first being around Christmas when I received a gift set of Alien which I had planned to gift with no sealed box. As a customer of nearly 15 years, I see Nordstrom’s quality and customer care is steadily going down hill.

I cried (ok not really, more liked gasped) when I dropped my half full bottle onto my bathroom floor shattering the bottle and its glorious contents. Within seconds, I ordered a new bottle. And my bathroom smelled lovely for a week. This is the only perfume I truly believe is universal for all body chemistry. So light and unexpected. The best is when I'm working out at 5pm and catch a whiff of it reappearing inside my sweat after hours of wear. It's the best!

I am a longtime Jo Malone fan (I regularly wear Mimosa and Cardemom and Nectarine Blossom and Honey). I was shopping in Nordstrom one day and noticed a new Jo Malone fragrance. THE MOMENT I smelled Basil & Neroli I knew I was smitten. The fragrance is sooooo different from the others, and its clean, fresh scent is breathtaking. I went home that day smelling my arm all night...that's when I knew I had to have this. If you layer with the body crème you should enjoy a full day's worth fragrance. If you are curious, please go try out the scent...it really is intoxicating. Enjoy!!!
