Jean Harness Boot

I’m a hairdresser, which means I’m on my feet for the entire workday so I wanted to find a chic but still comfortable and durable pair of boots. I recommend trying these on in-store as opposed to buying online, and wearing them exclusively with either tights or long socks as they are very difficult to get on and off with no-shows. Calf width is a little bit narrow IMO, I’m a size 0-2 in jeans and they barely had a gap, so probably not the best for someone with thicker legs. I’m a D width shoe generally but that’s fairly hard to find in women’s departments so no complaints on that part, just slight discomfort in the toe box which should get better with wear. Adding a zipper would compromise structural integrity over time so I understand why it wasn’t included in this design. These were manufactured Mexico, frye boots made either in the States or Mexico are of substantially better quality than overseas pairs. Will keep these, but buyer beware, they will take some breaking in before becoming an everyday boot.

So I’ll start by saying I have owned several pair of Frye boots over the years (specifically the harness style like these ones in the anniversary sale). The main difference being these ones have a tad taller heel as well as a bit taller shaft height. I stalked the site until the beautiful almond suede ones came back in stock because they were one of the items from the sale that I really wanted for Fall. I’m typically an 8.5/9 but never saw the suede pair stocked in a 9 so I snagged both an 8.5 and a 9.5. The 9.5 pair arrived today and they fit perfectly (so for me I felt they ran a tad small since the 9.5 fit me). However, I was a bit disappointed as the pair I received were not packed well. The top of one of the shafts was completely crushed and deformed (I’ll add photos), visible dry glue along the lower seems, visible scuff marks on the outer toe box, etc.. I’m hoping it’s just an isolated incident and that perhaps I received a return? And that it’s not a quality issue on all pairs because these suede boots are GORGEOUS otherwise. When I opened the box, the air flooded with the smell of leather. I will say the tone of the suede is a bit darker in person than depicted online but I’m okay with that because they’ll be a bit more forgiving. The boot shaft isn’t narrow but also not super wide so I’d say it is perhaps a bit larger circumference than average but it depends if you plan to wear bare legged or over pants. For me, these boots are perfect for Fall and I can already visualize styling them so many ways from pairing them with a long denim skirt to throwing over a black legging with a long flannel. I’m crossing my fingers the second pair will be in better condition but if you are able to score a pair without damage they are a total score!

I love these boots! I love the color and look! I just couldn’t get my foot in them! They were to narrow where you put your foot in. I then bought this boot a size up (size 6). I still struggled. I finally got my foot in and they were too big! Although I still struggled to get them off! Sadly I returned them all. I wear a size 5. But buy a 5-1/2 size when buying boots so there is room for socks. I have been buying this brand for years and they are always great! But the past couple of years this is the second time I bought this brand and they are not made like they used to before! Really bummer!

They were just too hard to get on. Once I got them on, they fit my foot fine. Also, hard to get off. Returning.

I love these theyre so cute and I don’t think I would have to break them in very much, but the no zipper is a killer. I spent almost 2 hours trying to take them off myself. And unfortunately they came with a small cut in the leather of the harness so I think I will be returning unfortunately.

I’ve had the same pair of frye boots for 15 years and took the chance this anniversary sale to add another to my collection. The frye quality is definitely still there and I love the look of these which can go anywhere between western to edgy. Super versatile and the chocolate color has this lived in look to it I love. I’m usually a 9 and ordered both a 9 and 9.5 - the 9s haven’t come yet but the 9.5’s fit just how I like so I think I’ll be keeping them. Favorite anniversary sale purchase!
