I-Recover Mind & Body Gel

First of all, this product has numerous 5-star ratings on the Indie Lee website so it obviously works very well for some people. I know leaving a 1-star review makes you look crazy, but the reaction I had to this product was so miserable that I'm willing to risk losing my hard-earned internet reviewing cred. This gel is intended to have a cooling effect on the muscles and is intended to be used pre or post workout. The packaging recommends using it after their body soak from the same Recovery line. I worked out, came home, took a shower, and applied this afterwards. 5-10 minutes later, the "cooling" kicked in, but it instead of cooling, it was FREEZING. I did a full-body workout, so applied this to both arms and legs. I put on my thickest sweatpants, sweater, and socks, then got in bed with two blankets and a comforter and I was still absolutely freezing. Because the "cooling" happens to the muscles beneath the skin, nothing I put on top of my body could alleviate the horrible cold I was feeling. In the end, I ran a hot bath and that was the only thing that was able to get rid of the sensation. And that was because it rinsed most of the gel off. Maybe this works better immediately after a workout (though I wasn't using it incorrectly as the packaging did recommend using it after a bath). I briefly considered trying it again before a workout instead, but I'm so afraid of having this horrible experience again that I'm just going to return it. Buy at your own risk. I wish all ye Nordstrom shoppers the best of luck with this scary gel. I am the minority but I wanted to warn you of the horrors you may experience if you are an unlucky soul like me. (Seriously, it was terrible. I can't remember the last time I was so cold in my life and I am well acquainted with New England winters) Perhaps try this in the summer. Or not at all.
