I decided this year to save up and invest in some Hunters. I'm so glad I did, I LOVE these boots!
I have larger calves so the Original Tall boots didn't fit. I then moved on to the Huntress which boasts a larger shaft to accommodate "athletic" calves, those fit better but I wasn't able to stuff my jeans in them. I then luckily came across the Original Short boot. Since it's only 10 inches tall my calves aren't an issue, they are comfy, I can stuff my jeans in them, and I get lots of compliments because the style isn't seen that often! They even stretch a bit with wear. I recommend them to anyone who is dying to own a pair of Hunters, but didn't think it was possible with larger calves!

Horrible Purchase
I purchased the Hunter Short Gloss in Black last summer because I was going to Ireland and needed rain boots. I was so excited to find these because I'm a short person and regular rain boots typically come up too high on my legs. I typically wear a 7.5 and purchased a 7. I wore these with thick socks on my flight to Ireland - one layover, minimal walking - and the backs of my calves were rubbed raw. The rain boots were by no means too tight, I have over an inch of room between my legs and the boots and a bit of room in the toe area. Because they are so stiff, the top edge of the boots rubbed against the back of my leg with every step. I didn't wear them again until the backs of my legs healed - over a month - and the second time I wore them with my socks folded over the tops and they still rubbed painfully. They came home in my checked luggage and have been sitting in my closet ever since. Almost a year later and I still have the scars on the back of my legs.

just get 'em. you won't regret it!
I've had Hunter boots for quite a few years now. I purchased my first pair in Europe and have gotten more from Nordstrom as gifts. The short boots are great if you have wider calves (like I do) but are also nice if you feel uncomfortable with knee-high boots. These boots are nice in wet grass and mud, but definitely NOT made for snow/ice. It's actually bad for the rubber to be in the cold, so keep that in mind when looking for a wet-weather boot! The gloss stays pretty shiny and they do run a little narrow, but are comfy and then you, of course, need to match them with the wool socks! All in all, a wonderful boot for your rainy/muddy weather days! You won't regret your purchase! :)

Perfect- they live up to the hype
I got the black gloss short boot and they are exactly what I needed. They keep my feet dry and clean when I'm out in the muck with my dog. And they're so cute and comfortable. I wear them all day long when the weather is poor and my feet never feel sore. I was worried the shorter style's opening would be too wide but they fit just right and are great for pulling on quickly and they don't flop around when I walk. (I am very short, 5' and have chicken legs and these are perfect).

Nice Rain Boots
I wanted to get the Hunter tall boots for a long time. I purchased tall and short boots because I didn't know if tall boots fit me well. I'm 5'4 so long boots could be too tall for me.
I liked a look of tall boots but every time I walked on the stairs, they hit my backside of knees. Also, tall boots were not comfortable when I sit on the couch since tall boots pushed my back side of knee. I found short boots are more comfortable than tall boots for everyday use. I returned tall boots and kept short boots.
Although driving a car with Hunter boots is not as comfortable as driving with sneakers. I'm still happy with this purchase. They are great boots and very stylish.

Pleasantly surprised!
I tried the Hunter Boots in Tall and Short. I'm tall (5ft 8.5) so I thought I'd like the Tall one better, yet I found it very heavy and bulky to walk in. i decided to go with the Short Boot because it was lightweight, easy to get on/off, very stylish and comfy! I've worn them in the rain and muck, and they really clean up nicely.
I am usually a size 8.5, and the size 8 fits great with a pair of chunky socks. I have slim calves so the opening at the top of the boot is roomy enough to easily tuck in any of my jeans and socks.
My only complaint is that the selection of Welly Socks for the Short Boot is limited to only four colors in one single style.
I fit a size Large in the Short Boot Welly Sock, but was only able to find a pair in Black ... I liked one of the other colors/styles in the Tall Boot Welly Sock, so on a hunch, I tried it in a Medium, and it fit the Short Boot with no problem! Of course, since that sock was meant for the Tall Boot, there is a little extra material showing at the top. But I had no problem scrunching it down a bit so it doesn't show. Now I can enjoy another pair of Welly socks for my Short Boot!
