great for wide calves!
I was unable to wear the regular Hunter boots with jeans--they were too tight in the calf, and I didn't like the fit of the Huntress boots--very wide in the ankles, lower shaft than expected. So very happy I discovered these! They fit great and the back can be adjusted depending upon what I'm wearing. Wish these would have come up sooner, when looking for extended calf or wide calf boots. Very happy with this purchase.

Not wide calf
I gave these boots 1 star because they are supposed to fit a wider calf and they do not! I am 5'6 and have a 16" calf. These boots are wide at the top of your calf not the middle which is the widest part. Really wanted these to work as I love the Hunter style but had to return!

Cute, but not for me
I have been wanting Hunter boots for a long time. Now that we finally have some rain in Southern California, I decided to get some. I first got the original tall boots, but I couldn't even get them on. I then ordered these adjustable ones. They were easier to get on, but I could not figure out how to get the buckle to lay flat. And, I did not love the look of the adjustable part from behind. They also were a tad too tall. I'm 5'5" and they came up to my knees. Could have been a little shorter. They fit well though. My calf's are about 17in around so the adjustable was the way to go. The biggest problem for me is that they are so hard to get off!! I think I pulled my hamstring trying to get them off! I ended up returning them and getting the short Hunter boots. They fit well but are not as cute as the original ones. But I will keep them. They are still hard to get off, but not as hard as the taller boots. In all three boots, I got an 8 because I wear an 8. A little roomy, but thick socks help. The 7's are too small. Very comfortable though. Hope this helps!

Finally, a Hunter fits my calf!
My measurements: 6' 1" tall, 210 lbs, my calf measurement is 16.75 in with no socks or pants.
I used to own a pair of Hunter Original Tall boots. They didn't fit my calf. These Hunter Adjustable Back Gloss Rain Boots fit my calf . This new boot leaves room for skinny jeans, and there's enough room to add a Hunter Boot Sock/cuff too. The profile is nice because the ankle is not as wide as the Huntress. The top of the boot hits 5 inches below my knee.
Two small items which I don't love- 1) the gusset which allows the adjustability is not gusseted/elastic, it's a solid piece of soft rubber (like a shower curtain kind of?), and it kind of sticks out 2) the buckle/strap doesn't lock firmly, so throughout the day it comes undone and the strap flaps about, and you have to re-do it.
Otherwise, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I want to purchase more colors!

Love these!
Are trying the regular tall ones I ended up getting these. I love them because I am only 5'2 and the original tall boots are just a little too tall for me! These are also great because I have a very muscular calf so the original talls were too tight but these I can wear even with the hunter boot socks and the adjustable back is so cute and flattering! These are a great alternative to someone shorter with a more muscular leg!

Amazing Boot!
I had previously ordered the original gloss hunter boots but they did not fit my calves comfortably. I went to Nordstrom and found these incredible boots! They are not available for purchase online so the wonderful sales associate ordered them for me and they were shipped to my house in about 5 days. This style is much more suitable for me than the original. There is plenty of room in the calf and the black gloss is just so pretty and sleek! I would recommend this boot to anyone who cannot wear the original. I did have to size up though which is pretty unusual for Hunters since most people size down. I usually wear a 9 in boots but I had to order a 10 in order to accommodate welly socks.

High Quality, Adjustable Back is Necessary
I originally purchased the Hunter Original Tall Gloss Boot in Graphite Glossy and loved them, but they weren't very giving. I don't have large calves, but the fit was super snug. I was debating over keeping them or trading them in for these adjustable back ones because I loved the color of my other ones, but decided to go for the Adjustable Back Boot. I'm glad I did. The extra two inches makes a difference, and the black glossy is beautiful. If you purchase the welly socks, it makes the black a lot more interesting. I've only worn them a couple times but they feel to be of very high quality and I think they will last a long time. I wish they offered them in more colors, though.
I wear a size 6.5 or 7 and have a wide foot, and the adjustable back size 6 fits great. In the non-adjustable back one I wore a size 7.
