What it is: A charcoal cleansing bar that gives your skin an amazing deep clean while also gently exfoliating skin.

What it does: Bamboo charcoal has been used for centuries in the East, and the Japanese use it regularly for everything from filtering and purifying drinking water to brushing teeth. When used in skin care, activated bamboo charcoal does wonders to deeply cleanse and detoxify skin as it's extremely absorbent and has the power to purify all that it comes into contact with. This soap also contains tea tree cleansing oil, which helps fight infections such as acne and fungal infections of the nail, and helps reduce allergic skin reaction as well; and bergamot essential oil, which helps balance the skin's oil production.
How to use: Lather between your hands with water and apply generously to your face and body. This soap is gentle enough for everyday use.

My Favorite Soap
This soap leaves the face feeling extremely clean and soft, not dry! I'm in my 50s and still have the occasional breakout; the charcoal soap is calming and doesn't strip the natural oils from my face. I cut it in half to have one in the shower and one at the sink.

Covered in Lint
This soap is quite expensive for the size of it and mine had fine lint all over it. I reached out to Herbivore a couple of days ago and have yet to hear back. I don’t want to use it.

The BEST charcoal soap
I am 67 years old, sensitive, (eczema in the past) combination skin, and sometimes have little bumps/white heads on my center forehead and chin. This charcoal soap takes care of getting rid of them without flakiness or dry skin. I also use on my nose to keep away potential blackheads. I use it about every other day in warm weather and about once a week during cold winter weather. It's the best charcoal soap around. Love it and highly recommend it.

Nothing short of amazing!
At the prompting and encouragement from my acupuncturist, I decided to start using more natural skincare products. I stumbled across the Herbivore Botanical line and decided to try the Bamboo Charcoal Cleansing Bar Soap. I am currently using the Philosophy skincare line (Purity) and enjoy the fresh, clean feeling after cleansing, so I was a little anxious to try the cleansing bar soap, worried it would overdry my skin.
It. Did. Not.
After using the cleansing bar soap only once, my skin felt more invigorated than ever. Maybe it's the active charcoal elements in the soap, maybe it's simply trying a new product that may complement my skin's ph balance. Who knows? Who cares? I love it! I'm so excited I found a soap that helps my skin. I will definitely purchase again and may even try the Pink Clay Bar Soap and the Blue Clay Bar Soap.

Great Bar of Soap!
I don't write reviews often, but I am so impressed with this charcoal soap that I felt obligated. My face is clearer and the redness has dissipated. Love it!
