Gore-Tex® Waterproof Mountain Jacket

I own the exact version of the early 2000s Mountain light which is exactly the same as this jacket (except the NF is on the sleeve.) The material rough is like a old bugaboo columbia jacket, not lightweight /smooth like OR or other brands or the mountain light versions of past. Its heavy compared to older "mountain" jackets. YKK zippers for main jacket are smaller than mountain lights and mountain guides of past they will fail first. Velcro on sleeves will fail next. I returned my 2013 mountain light jacket to get this because the warranty is not what it use to be (buyer beware.) Like older Mountain lights the older Nuptse and Denali will not zip in due to Teeth variance and bottom alignment. This will probably be my last NF jacket I will purchased due to limited warranty. After 25 years of mountain lights and mountain guides and the warranty is not what it use to be. I hope this will last as long as my others (about 6 years.)

I have had one of these jackets since the nineties and it never disappoints. It is perfect for all sorts of mountain adventures.

Loved the color of this jacket & that's what lead to the purchase. Having received it, the coat looks so much better than the pic. My favorite are the pit zippers. Extremely durable & well made. That is why I buy North Face!

Removed an inside pocket. Not the original. A pocket must really hit the bottom line. I have 3 with all the pockets. Returning

I've owned half a dozen North Face jackets over the years and this is one of my favorites. I would categorize this jacket as one of the Best Buy's for a Gore-Tex jacket. You can do everything in this jacket, it will keep you dry in a pouring rain. It looks great around town or on a trail. You can zip in a liner for colder weather. I love the roomy chest pockets on it and the two internal pockets. The chest pockets are high and deep enough to not get in the way of a hip belt for a pack. I think this would be a great travel jacket. It not the lightest Gore-Tex but it has the comfortable lining where you need it the most, the sleeves and body. The hood is 2L. Well designed and functional.

Great jacket that i've been eyeing for a while. Saw this version with the bold "gore-tex" embroidery and got one of the last ones left. The iconic Mountain Jacket is a must for every wardrobe. Great for the streets or the mountains.
