Absolutely perfect and beautiful!
I had my eye on these boots for a good 2 months, and after reading the reviews of how others could barely get their foot into the boot and the very narrow shaft, I was pretty much expecting to be returning them as soon as I received them. I took a chance and ordered them anyway because I could not find another boot that I liked as much as these, and I'm so glad I did! Let me tell you, I do not have skinny legs/calves by any means and the extended calf slipped on so perfectly and easily, and absolutely no struggle to get them on. They have handy little pull tabs on the insides as well to make it easier to get them on. I have slightly wide feet, and I went a half size up, I am normally a 9 or 9 1/2 in boots and I got the 10 Extended Calf. There is still a bit of room in the toe for thicker socks. My calves measure exactly 15 1/4 and there is still room for leggings and jeans with the boot on. They even feel like they will stretch and conform to be even more comfortable with thicker pants, even though they are already so comfy the way they are. Getting them off isn't as difficult as I anticipated either, best if you scrunch the shaft down a bit and then shimmy them off your heels. If you are on the fence about ordering these boots, I'd say it's definitely worth trying them out! I can see how these would def be tighter on someone with a 16"+ calf size, esp without a zipper, so if you do have super thick legs prob not the right boot. But it's definitely not just for people with very skinny legs/calves because they fit me like a dream! Keep in mind this style of leather boot is meant to be broken in and stretched to conform to your feet and legs and over time they fit even better. Can't wait to wear mine in, these are my new favorite boots!

Impossible to get on!!! Returned!!
I can’t believe the price of these for the horrible fit and I bought them on SALE!! I even bought up a half size. My feet are an 8 1/2-9 and not wide nor with high arch. I could not get my heel in without heating the boot with a blow dryer and putting a plastic bag on my foot to make slick (crazy but the solution I found online from other Frye buyers). Sweating and cussing by the time I was FINALLY able to pull them on!! Called Frye and they told me to go to a cobbler! I told them where to go! Returned to Nordstrom!

Pictures don’t do them justice, the quality of leather and fit are perfect. A bit stiff in the heel, but that’s normal with all leather boots till they wear. I normally wear a size 8 I’m 5’5 140 average calves and ordered an 8 regular calf they fit perfect with some wiggle room.

I’m bitter!
The Melissa Button 2 price dropped 25 percent!! UGH! Makes me regret my purchase even more. The leather on this Frye boot is as beautiful as expected. And the calf fit is nice. But for me, that’s where the good ends. A crushingly narrow, rigid toe box meets a lax midsole and unstructured ankle—resulting in an unrefined saggy upper whose downward slouch is saved only by a grippy supportive calf build. The narrowed toe box looks pointed vs rounded and makes the midsole look stretched, boxy and outdated. The widest part of my foot hits the narrowest portion of the bed so there’s no movement foward, no breathing, and occasional heel rubbing. By day’s end, my feet are screaming to be set free. Then, there’s the pulloff!! A ridiculously torturous exercise. I have Frye ballerina flats that I adore. And Frye/COACH Veronica Slouch collabs that are so ruggedly sexy I can’t stand it! But these? These Melissa Button 2! No! They are a big fat NO! Or, more accurately, they are a big-narrow-toe-toe, misshapen-footbed, lazy-ankle, snug-calf, sweat-inducing NO! I carefully researched before selecting this boot. Disappointed that I still live without a tall, flat-heel boot with enough refinement and structure for dress ups and the office.

This is a great looking boot.
Purchased these boots in the cognac. The color I love. The fit is true to size. They are comfortable and I like the rustic look of them. I ordered the extended calf because I wanted to wear leggings inside of the boot. My legs are skinny and the extended calf was just a bit wider than my legs. I believe if I had gotten the regular calf it would have been so close that I would not be able to wear leggings (jean type) with them.

Beautiful!
Beautiful boots, and they fit perfect right out of the box. I first bought the Slate color, and I loved the boots so much, I bought another pair in Cognac. I have athletic calves, and the wide calf fits perfectly.

perfect boots for small calfs
I have struggled my whole adult life finding boots that fit my calf. I have big feet (8 1/2) compared to my calf size apparently. It typically looks like I am a child playing dress up when I try on tall boots. I love these! I show horses, so I’m used to pulling on boots, and the fact that these did not have zippers was a plus for me. I ordered a half size smaller than I typically wear.
