'Star Gazer' Embroidered Tunic Dress

I sized down to X-Small for a fitted look (5-5, 104 pounds), but if you wear your standard size, the sleeves will be full length and it will be longer so you don't need to wear anything underneath. The neckline is low, my bra shows, but it's easy to fix with a cami or tank top underneath. The cinched waist helps you tailor this piece. It's also great in case you eat too much at lunch time! It can be dressed up with sandals, can be thrown over jeans, or can be worn with boots. I loved it so much I bought all the available colors (still waiting for the blue to ship). It's very versatile. You will love it in all seasons except maybe winter if you live in a cold climate. I grabbed the black, white, and red. Even though they are the same style, they all look like unique dresses since the color differences are so vast. If I had to pick only one color, I would pick the black since the color contrast with the embroidered really stands out.

Since my teenage daughter wears Free People and the brand does seem targeted toward a younger age bracket, I have never even been tempted to purchase anything from them. That changed though when I saw this dress on a Nordstrom mannequin this week. Loved the dress immediately and was surprised it from Free People. Tried the black on, expecting it to be too short or just too boho for me. Pleasantly surprised that I didn't think it was either. I did size up to a Medium though because I was worried about the length. It hits just above the knee and I'm 5'7" about 130 lbs. Even my daughter is happy; even though I didn't purchase it in her size, she can still borrow it.

I ordered the natural color in an XS and it fit really well. Not too short - seems to be a bit longer in the back which is perfect for me. (5'4", 122 lbs). I paired it with knee high boots and I loved the look - finally something from Free People that isn't huge. I wore it for about 2 hours to a meeting and got at least 6 compliments. Definitely recommend!

I'm very happy with this super cute and comfy dress! In fact the first day I wore it a woman came over to me in a restaurant and said 'You're rocking that dress. Can I ask where you got it?" . I happily told her that I had just received it from Nordstrom online, Free People, and it was so light weight and comfy, especially in this California summer heat wave. I have to wear a little half slip as it is a bit sheer, and blows up a bit and I didn't want to flash anyone! I may order a second color, maybe the black. The color red is pretty accurate to the photo. I wore a few turquoise jewelry pieces and it really looked pretty together.
