Tiny as pictured
This is a pretty sweater and my teen daughter was thrilled with it (she'd wanted an argyle cropped cardigan and after much searching chose this).
Based on reviews we got a M. She is maybe 0- max 2 waist up. The M seemed fine, maybe a bit baggy even. I washed it in a front loader machine cold on delicate cycle, with a delicate detergent, with one other cotton fragile sweater, and it shrunk considerably. Looks like a child's large. The fabric is thicker than I expected. Definitely cropped. Pretty, just be aware for sizing and care!
