Byron Thin Wool Beanie

Love everything about it…. EXCEPT it accidentally ended up in the dryer before my husband even got a chance to wear it. It now lives in the trash because it wouldn’t fit a new born! DO. NOT. DRY. Had to take one star off because once the extra long tag is cut off, you have to remember which beanies can and cannot be dried!

Got this beanie because it was wool and i wanted a wool beanie for hiking to better control sweat and odor compared to typical acrylic beanies. It worked well despite it initially feeling pretty thin. If you need an ultra cold weather beanie you might want something a little thicker but this served me down to the 30s while being relatively active and at camp. The beanie did feel a little tight/small. Its a one size fits all and im 6'3" 185lbs so if you have a larger head and dont want a fitted beanie then maybe not for you. It was uncomfortable necessarily, but i usually like having a little extra fabric in my beanies for looks and this was closer to a skull cap (but not quite that tight). A downside of a 100% wool beanie i discovered is that it might struggle to hold shape if you dont have it laid out nicely when you arent wearing it. There were portions of the hike that i would take it off and put it in a pocket in my backpack and then also times where it was packed in my packing cube and when we got home, we noticed that it looked a little misshapen and uneven from this. I have worn it since then a little and the shape has returned fairly well but it is something to note vs acrylic or a wool blend with elastic/nylon to hold shape better. Even just hiking with it in my hand scrunched up for a little caused a little bit of this as well. Overall good beanie, will update this review if i run into any more issues/insight

Bought this as a gift for my very picky and minimalist husband. He loved it. I also liked it so much, ordered one for myself. It’s lightweight enough to wear in a walk in LA and keeps you warm without the bulk. Just make sure you follow the washing instructions as it’s wool and will shrink if washed hot/put in the dryer.

Searching for an Olive color knit hat I came across this one, not familiar with the brand but I did want a wool hat that wasn't too heavy a knit. Last year all I could find in this color wear acrylic and after washing it, it kinda raggedy and not warm at all. This one (haven't worn it yet), is seemingly just what I was looking for. Color is great, just what I wanted. Now if I hadn't bought that bittersweet heavier wool hat last Fall....I'd be getting the one offered here .
