Filson X Wrangler Adventure Waxed Cotton Duck Canvas Jacket

I’ve had my eye on purchasing a short lined cruiser jacket from Filson for a couple of years but never quite pulled the trigger because I wish it had a better lining for cold weather at the price point they sell it for. Low and behold, Filson and Wrangler (two heritage American icons) teamed up to answer my prayers! This adventure jacket is cut very much like Filson’s short liked cruiser in that it comes to about your hips, similar to how a Cossack jacket is cut. It’s lined with Filson’s Mackinaw wool in the body and padded polyester in the sleeves keeping you well insulated in colder climate. Ive been wearing this in Northern Ca winter with nothing but a pearl snap shirt on and this thing keeps the cold out. I liked Filson’s short lined cruiser because of the shank metal button closure, but since Ive slipped the Wrangler on I must say the zip closure has made me a convert to its better practicality and cleaner lines. The vertical pleating detail down the front sealed the purchase for me, I love the character it adds the jacket. At 6 ft 1, I fluctuate between 175-182 pounds, have a 41 inch chest and 32-33 waist. I wasn’t to sure what size to get as most of my clothes are a size M although I’ll have the occasional L in the wardrobe as well. Wrangler have their sizing chart on the page but not anything else. I decided to go over Filson’s site and check sizing there. Fortunately they do have the AI sizing suggestion on the site, I put the details in the fields required, and was suggested to go true to size and get a medium. I went with it and I must say Im glad I did. The medium had a pit-to-pit measurement of 23 inches and just fits like a dream. Its got the perfect fit across the chest, and feels close cut, but with room to spare across the abdomen. Im currently absolutely obsessed by this thing to the point I don’t take it off indoors. This will look better with age and I cant wait for it to develop a patina over time. I wish this came with an internal pocket in the lining but I still feel the three pockets it comes with is utilitarian enough and doesnt take anything away from its 5 stars.

I bought this jacket a couple of weeks ago and Iam absolutely obsessed. When I first received it I was unsure of size and quality. I’m 5’9 165 and always wear a medium and that’s what I got. The jacket was stiff when I got it but it’s breaking in nice! The jacket is also very warm and I am comfortable in 30-40s with a sweater or button down. It’s laying nice and have gotten multiple compliments already. A few things I wish were better, made in the USA and the zipper is small and seems weak. Minus those things it’s my favorite waxed jacket so far and have all the popular ones.
