What it is: A precious and rare fragrance spray with a rich concentration that falls between a parfum and eau de parfum.
Fragrance story: In her private office, Estée Lauder kept a collection of rare fragrance essences created from precious ingredients that were deeply personal to her. When admired, Ms. Lauder explained the scent was from her private collection. Women began calling stores to request this fragrance and finally, in 1973, Ms. Lauder introduced her signature perfume to the world.
Style: Floral, green.

Estee Lauder Private Collection
It was an incredible find just before Christmas as this is my favorite perfume for over 20 years and it had been discontinued for several years! This is Eau de Private Collection Spray which is very nice but my favorite is the Pure Fragrance Private Collection as the scent last longer as you are wearing it during the day. I did buy two bottles to enjoy for a while even if I use more and it is still my favorite! I receive the most compliments on the scent when wearing Private collection over any other perfume I wear.

Disappointed Customer
This is NOT the same fragrance created by Estee Lauder in the 1970's. So disappointing when you think you are getting that previous wonderful scent that she created, only to discover it bears a distinct "chemical" smell which is very off-putting. I would not recommend it to anyone! It was returned immediately.

Not much like the original Private Collection
As the old saying goes, "You can't go home again." And sometimes you simply cannot revisit the past. I wish I'd taken the advice of some other fragrance fans who correctly and honestly explained that this is NOT the same Private Collection we all knew and loved back in the late 1970s. In fact, this new version doesn't smell even a little bit like it, even after the dry down. It's not a terribly unpleasant scent -- and you might like it -- if you are not familiar with the richness and complexity of the original Private Collection. This new one pales in comparison, and smells like a totally different fragrance. I'm sadly disappointed, and probably won't wear it much. I shouldn't have kept my expectations so high.

Huge Disappointment!
I have no idea why this is called "Private Collection." This is nothing at all like the original fragrance. This literally stinks! There is nothing positive I can say about this fragrance. Estee Lauder herself would be extremely appalled that her private fragrance had been grossly tampered with. I contacted the company (EL) and they won't even respond. Out of all the terrible reviews this fragrance is receiving, they're still selling it. It's a good thing that I have 2 full original vintage bottles of the true version.

Beautiful Floral-Green Scent
They don't make fragrances like this anymore. It's a gorgeous and sophisticated floral-green scent. Definitely potent like all these perfumes tend to be. I love it!
