Blue Gown size 2 and 4 Comparison
I am 5’8” with body measurements of 33:25:35. I ordered the size 4 according to the size chart but felt the straps were a bit too long and a tad more room overall. It still looked nice but I would have needed to take the straps in about an inch on each side. I opted to order a size 2 for comparison. The size 2 fits perfectly. Maybe a bit snug but no struggle while shimmering it over my head to get it on but once on the length is correct for the entire dress and straps. It hits the top of my foot. I would actually like to keep both sizes but I’m choosing the size 2 just bc I don’t want to get the 4 altered. My advice is to purchase according to the size chart and then the next size down and see which one is more comfortable.
This dress is also very slimming in my opinion. Just the way it flows over the body gently grazing or hugging curves depending on the size you choose. It is very effortless and comfortable to wear.
The blue is similar to dark navy or midnight. It is not lined but works out with the style and is very light weight. You definitely need a bra with it unless you want something extra to show. Overall it is a beautiful gown and I’m glad I bought it at the sale price.

Holy Slip
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a time of pain, joy, and conflict for me, especially when it comes to pricier designer pieces. If they’re marked down 64%, it’s potentially a staggeringly good deal, but one would think that perhaps there’s a reason for the markdown. Why wasn’t it popular? Why didn’t it sell? Sometimes the reason is immediately obvious and results in a swift return, and sometimes I realize I actually got a true steal. This is one of those steal times!
Nordstrom’s legendary return policy won out and made me take a chance. When I saw the way this thing moved on the model I had to see it in person. I’m usually between a size small and medium; a 6 (and sometimes a 4) is generally fitted on me and an 8 is more roomy. I like pieces like this to be roomy, so I ordered the 8 in the color “sand”, which is a pale champagne that is somewhat cool-toned. The dress’s full price is as much as an Apple laptop costs. Even marked down it’s a price I consider indulgently expensive (around $500). I decided to give it a chance to blow me away, and…
…holy SLIP, she is made of moonlight. I’ve never felt a silk so liquid and smooth, and it’s not even my first experience with charmeuse. It feels like heaven on and moves and shines like cool, fluid metal. When I first brought it out of the box I thought for sure that I would need to get it hemmed; I’m 5’7” and 141 lbs with a slim build and it appeared far too long. It’s cut on a bias, though, and when I put the dress on, it clung in all the right places and ended up just at my ankles. It must have slid around a lot during shipping in a box much bigger than the dress, and yet wrinkling was minimal.
I don’t know if I would pay full price for this dress. $1500 is a LOT of money for any piece of clothing. But $500 for a dress that dreams are made of is justifiable, and this is an absolutely versatile piece that will get tons of rotation in my closet. I LOVE slip dresses and find them great fun to style at any length. Their simplicity is their strength and they can be dressed up or down. The perfect neutral shade of this piece goes with virtually any sweater or blazer. It’s lighter than a breeze for even the hottest summer days. I feel I was right to purchase the larger size in my range, because while it is a bit big on me especially at the bust, it gives me so much room and drape for that glorious charmeuse rippling, and is forgiving over any lumps and bumps. I’m 37 and I’ve had a few babies, and I feel young and glamorous in this dress even without makeup or a stitch of shape wear. The long line and mesmerizing movement are incredibly flattering. As long as it runs a minimal risk of getting snagged or stained, I want to style dozens of outfits with this and wear it EVERYWHERE, from book club to date night to the stage for concerts. While this is unlined, it’s not sheer in the least. This dress sings your praises and keeps your secrets.
This put a dent in my wallet, but it’s absolutely stunning. You can tell where that money went to create absolutely perfect quality that almost seems to be not of this world. She’s a keeper, and I didn’t even have to think twice.
