Stand Collar Organic Cotton & Nylon Coat

I have to say, I was disappointed in this coat. I knew it was unlined, but I expected the fabric to be thicker to make up for that. As is, it's very, very thin and truly would be for looks alone and not for any "warmth" or wind protection. I do think this coat could have benefited from a lining or just thicker fabric to help with the drape of it because even sizing down this looks far too tent like to be flattering. I like an oversized jacket or shirt, but for the price, this just looks sloppy. I normally wear a Medium and sized down to a small but even a small is too big for such an unstructured coat.

I had completely overlooked this coat, but my Nordstrom salesperson pulled it for me to try on. I love it! The fabric feels great to the hand - beautifully smooth. The fit is typical for Eileen Fisher - if not used to the brand, suggest sizing down. The coat moves with you, has this great retro energy, and just delighted me. I didn't know I was looking for a brown coat, but I am so glad this was pointed out to me. I thought it would look like a sack - it doesn't, and it adds a surprising fashion-forward pop to my jeans.

This versatile “coat” (it’s unlined so just a shell constructed of cotton and nylon) will keep autumn chills at bay, while doubling as a raincoat. I live in California so will use it three seasons of the year, but I’m also packing it for a trip to NYC in October. Because it has no lining it folds down to almost nothing, making it perfect for travel. Love the color, and it fits well (definitely size down). Thanks to GeekyBunny for suggesting it in her review- it inspired me to take a chance and I’m glad I did.
