Silk Crepe Bateau Neck Shell

If this beautiful shell is still available, you must get one. I snapped it up immediately and felt lucky. I thought Eileen Fisher might be fazing it out for some unknown reason. I am fortunate to have one in black already. It's not only been a staple of their System for quite a while, but also a top that gets pulled out for use over and over from my closet. It's just a versatile piece that will never go out of style. Seriously. It's a pleasure to wear with almost anything. The length in the back is one reason why, and helps make this a versatile piece that can go from casual to dressy and everywhere in between. I read somewhere recently that a good choice for a closet is something that can be worn at least three different ways. This lovely piece meets and exceeds that criteria by a mile!

This top has more of a boat neck than the picture suggests and would be lovely on its own over pants or under a jacket or sweater. It is good quality and heavy enough not to cling to the bad bits. I am short (5'3") and not slim and this just looked too long and too tight on me. For taller and slimmer women it would be a great basic item.

I love the shell.....once you can get the size to fit. I have worn EF for years and a Large shell always fits. This large shell didn't fit, then I ordered an XL...didn't fit.....then a 1X finally fit. Mind you- all of the other shells in my closet are sized large. Definitely go up in size. I paired this with the bone skinny pants and love it - only gave it 3 stars because of the hassle with the sizing.

This top is so comfortable and elegant, it will be worn often. I almost returned mine because it had unknown grease (?) spots on both the front and back. But then I found there were no more available. Washing it meant I would have had to remove the tag and I would have been very upset if I'd done that and still couldn't get the spots out. But thanks to Google, I tried a very gentle method of blotting the spots with a water dampened cloth and then sprinkling the spots with cornstarch. After it dried I brushed off the cornstarch with an old, clean, soft toothbrush. I had to do this twice with each spot, but it worked well without damaging the fabric and I got to keep this beautiful top. I'm writing this not to complain, but to let others know not to give up and take a garment straight to a dry-cleaner when they get a spot on their silk garments, so some research and try the gentlest methods first. So happy I tried it and got to keep the top, I hope to wear it for years!

I love the silk tunics EF makes. Their length is excellent and the arm holes are perfect. The only issue I had with this top is that the neck line- the bateau neck is very wide. I am 60+ and have a couple age spots where the sun beat down on me and now I want those spots hidden. This wide neck doesn't help with that at all. EF has this same tunic with a smaller neck opening and that is the one I prefer.

Breezy, lightweight shell that falls at the perfect length so that you can wear with leggings and not feel too bare (if you’re on the shorter side - 5’4” or shorter) I like to wear it with leggings and a longer sweater. It fits loose and flows - I bought it in a Small and again on sale in a Petite Medium - honestly cannot see a difference between the two sizes. Perfect layering piece!
