High Collar Double Face Wool Blend Coat

This is an attractive and warm coat that seems well made. It runs large like so many of the EF pieces. But the biggest flaw in the coat is the absence of any buttons or snaps or even a hook&eye closure for the front. Since this is not a sweater that flows and drapes, the coat just hangs open and appears even larger. Many other less expensive EF coats and jackets from this season have a yarn-covered safety pin for front closure options. At this price, the addition of a simple snap would have gone a long way to add versatility and improve the overall look.

I almost love the coat, but the shape bothers me. Instead of being nipped in to hint at a woman's figure, it bulges where it should nip. It just isn't quite flattering. I love the boiled wool. I love the neckline. I can even tolerate the lack of a clasp to keep the coat closed. I just don't like the shape. I am going to return it.

elegant tailored and slimming cut but fit is good, not too tight. The fabric is nice and the black and charcoal colour combination will go great with so many things. I wish it had even just one snap or button for closure but I like it so much this isn't a drawback that will make me return. Definitely going into my wardrobe!

This is a gorgeous coat, very well made. Some reviewers find the lack of closure problematic but this is not a coat I would wear in frigid weather. It is a perfect fall / late fall item and goes well with other EF pieces. I have the grey/black skirt and this piece makes it a suit. I do think a simple, invisible hook-and-eye closure would have been useful, which is my reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5.

I understand the concerns of the first two reviewers. The price was a barrier for me, but I was able to purchase it on sale, so I'm a happy camper. To solve the closure issue, I contacted Eileen Fisher, who agreed to send me one of the cute, yarn-wrapped, large, safety pins that is furnished with some of her other coats or sweaters. So, I can wear it closed or not. The coat is a conservative style, but that makes it versatile. It is not over sized, as so many Eileen Fisher items are. You will have your figure in this coat. It can be dressed up or down depending on my mood of the day, weather or event. I love wearing it open and flow-y with a long, dramatic scarf. It isn't itchy. I wear a size medium in Eileen Fisher and this fits me perfectly. It will be an excellent traveler.
