Soft 8 Sneaker (Men)

I selected these over the Soft 7 as I liked the fact that there was no logo, a very clean and classic look. I have two complaints that truly affect my enjoynment of these shoes. First of all the laces, extremely poor quality and frayed after only about a half dozen wearings. NO replacement laces sold at Nordstrom or even Ecco stores. Contacted Ecco customer service and they sent me a replacement set that was short by 10 centimeters. The bigger issue for me is that the white sole base smudges immediately and is next to impossible to clean. I purchased the Ecco cleaning kit which was useless. Tried Magic Eraser and all sorts of cleaners. None have worked. Nice (& expensive) shoes that wear well, but look trashy. Not a great investment for $170.

These are very different from the Soft7. The last feels more symmetrical, shifting away from a more male centric last, and it feels longer than the same size Soft7. I tried one size down and it was too small, so I'm not sure what Ecco did with this shoe. The quality felt much better, especially in the arch and sole, unfortunately, this years Soft series is unusable for me. Grab those Soft7's while you can!

Not the Final Four or The Masters....you can always attend those! Your pretty good looking for your age (a little worn out) and you're spending the day with the most beautiful woman on earth touring her college campus & city. That's right she's your only daughter so you better look sharp! Start with your feet. Sporty, classy, durable and comfortable that's what you get in the ECCO Soft 8 Sneaker. Add jeans, a shirt and that Top Shop jacket she bought you for Father's Day. Yes still like new because you've been saving it. She's going to show you off to about 100 friends ....don't even try to keep all the names straight. :- )

I really like these shoes -- so much that I bought 2 different colors. The shoes themselves are great -- good fit, mostly comfortable, and just stylish enough. But why outfit them with trashy laces? They're all breaking after about a month of wear. To add insult to injury, Ecco doesn't sell replacements -- and neither does Nordstrom. I thought about returning the shoes, but ended up ordering laces online. Somebody made a bad cost-cutting move.
