this candle is warm, toasty, and elevated without being too nutty. i think it smells similar to the papier parfum, sort of have a rice aspect. the cold throw is strong but once warm it eventually filled our space with a lovely simple glow with that classic diptyque musk while not being overpowering. i’m burning it on a snowy day and am enjoying that it’s not your typical winter scent yet very comforting and certainly unique! i love the story behind it and am inspired to have quiet moments perhaps creatively while this candle is lit.

No thank you
I am a real candle junkie and have lots of Diptyque candles, but I really don't like this one. It's so weird reading how many people prefer it to paper (which I love) Such a shame, as I love the idea of it being inspired by ink, and heard it compared to Trudon's Mary, which I am a big fan of, but Encre to me smells musty and dusty and dank. reminiscent of a musty old wardrobe. It's so hard to understand how our experience of scent can vary so much from one person to another

Old Timey Ink Pot
I wish I smelled licorice or smoke, but all I get is ink pot and toner chemicals. And it's SO SO strong. I won't give up, but I'll probably only burn it when my windows are open. Would not buy again.

Beautiful
Bought this as a gift and adding to my own basket now! I can only go by the scent for now, un lit - it’s delicate, natural, clean laundry scent yet rich. It’s not exactly floral, nor sensual…Curious to know if it burns to a strong scent. Hope they keep it in the permanent collection

Strongly do not recommend
I bought this after giving it a sniff in my local store and it smelt like it was going to be amazing. Not so, it smells like pencil leads and migraines.
And I love their smokier scents like patchouli and Feu de bois. In fact I’m sad that I didn’t hold out to buy patchouli online instead.

Not for me
This is smoky yet very much bitterness into it. Liquorice is a big no-no for my nose. Did not like the way it tastes nor smells. Couldn't imagine putting this in a perfume or candle, potential puke material for some. The Papier shower gel from the same release is super divine though!
