Swiss Knife Shirt
I bought my first shirt because I liked the clean and simple style. I was surprised when it came, for a Desert Shirt, it seemed much heavier than I expected. Not a deal breaker for me...I bought it for a dress shirt- and it was exactly what I wanted. I love that it has a crisp nap and makes a great travel shirt. About the laundering comments- I wash cold and hang to dry on a hanger. I am amazed, after several washings and line dryings, I can get away with wearing without ironing if I want it for casual wear. If you do iron,( and I do) I use a cool iron and always spray water before- and I have had no problems. About the "Desert" title- I live in Maine and have no clue about wearing it in the desert. I am surprised that this "heavy" fabric wears amazingly comfortable and cool. I'm not sure if I would use it as my hiking shirt, but as a layering piece ( Ala Camp Shirt) , a definite great piece for my style. It is a great travel shirt-I've rolled it up and thrown it in my bag and comes out clean and crisp. I now have 4 long sleeve and two short sleeve in my closet. It is a great "Swiss Knife" - It can be worn from Camp to Town...casual and classic.

Sized up because of a lousy review.
Sized up because of a lousy review. Now I know that reviewer laundered the shirt incorrectly. Wash cold gentle cycle and low temp dry and use a cool iron, these are the correct laundering instructions. Laundered because we believed it would shrink, no it doesn’t. Order your correct size and follow the manufacturer laundering instructions. If you don’t want a shiny shirt learn what a press cloth is or use a cooler iron temp. The shirt did pucker after laundering ever so slightly. The shirt is excellent quality. Needed the medium size. U

Go to shirt
Literally can wear it anywhere... hiking, dinner, work, traveling. I've only had it for a few months, but it feels well made and built to last. Great shirt

Comfortable & Practical
Simply Comfortable. Extremely flexible which means I can freely move my arms around. That is important to me, as I am always writing on my large dry erase board while teaching. Wash and Wear. I like the basic colors since they go well with beige pants. It is just like the 25 years I spent in the military, I don't have to think about what I am wearing. Thanks, Royal Robbins!

Issues with this shirt you should know about
As always, the good here is the Royal Robbins quality, stitching and fit. But I was not happy with the fabric of two shirts I purchased in blue and green. I washed them out of the package because they fit well. The folding lines from the package did not come out at all even after washing in warm water and then going through the dryer. They also came out all puckery. The name of this shirt is appropriate because the fabric puckers when washed and dried. I had to iron both shirts and here found another issue. If you iron on the nylon setting the creases do not come out, even when using steam. If you iron on the silk setting or wool, you have to be very careful not to burn the fabric. It is already VERY shiny. Ironing it makes it more shiny. It is too shiny for my liking. Even after the creases are out, when you wash it again it goes into pucker mode. All the little squares pucker up. So now you have a shiny puckered shirt. We went up a size because my husband likes to wear them over another T-shirt of long sleeve shirt, so the XL rather than a L. They run a bit small and they were not as large as I expected the XL to be. They would fit quite nicely without an undershirt. We love Royal Robbins clothes, both for me and him, but I did not like these shirts. We are keeping because they were washed, but I do not recommend.
