Sterling Silver Tie Clip

Very thin sterling silver tie clip. Simple elegance. Definitely worth buying if you're considering it. Stays in place well (nice and tight).

I bought this tie clip as part of an anniversary gift for my husband. He loved it at first, however it quickly became too loose to hold onto the tie. It has fallen off multiple times. I am attempting to return this item and replace it with one that stays in place. Also, only really works with thin/skinny ties, looks ridiculous with regular width ties.

I am professional and wear a tie every day. I used to wear a tie clip (bar) regularly, but stopped about 15 years ago. I recently decided to start again (for both style and utilitarian reasons). I like the style of the clip-simple elegance. Does not detract from tie, suit, shirt etc.. From a utilitarian standpoint it fails. The back of the clip is both 1-too short and 2- not tight enough to securely and consistently clasp the shirt. I wear it "pocket level." If you wear it lower, on thicker part of tie, it'll be even worse. In short it detached from shirt once or twice a day -no big deal. However it detached from shirt and tie once a week. Sometimes in office, sometimes in parking garage, etc. Luckily I have been able to retrace my steps and find it, but is only a matter of time before it gets lost. Had to stop wearing it.

I took the clip into my jeweler to get polished and he informed me that it was only about 62% silver and the rest was nickel. Even though the back of the clip was stamped with a .92 indicating the amount of silver. If you buy it, buy it for the looks. It also fell off the second time I used it.

Makes a great gift - quality piece presents nicely and works with any man's wardrobe. Simple but elegant, holds the tie nicely.
